There are steps to make writing a paper much easier. The writing process and basic structure of an essay help create a proper paper for school such as an Investigative Research Paper. Without doing the proper process to do a paper, one may find themselves having difficulties writing the paper. The planning phase includes different steps. Those steps would include: discovering a subject, narrowing the subject to a topic, researching the topic, writing a thesis, and developing an outline. Additionally, there is the writing phase. The writing phase will be the first writing to be revised, corrected, and retyped. This format is called a draft, and any other version would also be called a draft. The other names for these drafts are second draft, revised draft, and final draft. The writing process has a step by process which is drafting, revising, receiving back, and rewriting. However, one should know that when using a computer, it is easy to just fix little things and continuing editing it, which really is not a new draft. According to Survival, “For the sake of definition, therefore, you can say that a draft is produced each time you actually print a new version of your paper or retype it or write it over with pen or pencil.” First draft procedures are simple. First one needs to acquire a quiet place to sit, rather it be …show more content…
I did plan out my Investigative Research Paper. Planning was the first thing I did after picking my topic. First let me explain why and how I picked my topic. To pick my topic I decided to look up popular research topics. Once I came across a certain topic, which was cyberbullying I immediately wanted to do that topic. The reason for this because of a movie I had seen about a girl who was bullied and tried to commit suicide. After picking my topic I started making my notes on the different websites I had searched “Is cyberbullying worse than face to face bullying.” I made an outline draft type of note page along with some note cards. This made writing the paper go more smoothly and it made it better for my time management. With there being what exactly I would talk about on note cards, all I had to do was put them into sentences. I did follow the basic structure of an essay. My introduction came first and included the opening sentences and thesis statement. For my opening sentence I used a quote and in my thesis I described what I was going to write about in my paper. Next, I did my body paragraphs. They explained my topics that I have in my thesis. After that came my conclusion which started out with my restatement thesis and did summarize my body paragraphs. In my paper there are interviews that I conducted with friends or family that had been bullied in
When writing a paper the process can vary from a few hours to several days. English teachers have several different ways they teach their students how to write as well as the method to use. Knowing the perfect way to prepare to write for a paper takes several years to master. Once you know what method works best for you, writing becomes less stressful. Preparing for the rhetorical analysis paper, I used all the best methods to have a smooth transaction from the begging till the end.
When approaching your paper, you must consider what your writing situation is. That will help you identify who your readers will be and why they would read your paper. Once you understand that you can start generating ideas and topics that you would like to write about. To generate ideas about your paper you can brainstorm, free write, and cluster ideas as they come to you. Then, when you have your ideas written down you can refine your topic and start to develop a research question. At that same time, you can start to read, evaluate, and collect the information you have found. It is also a good time to take notes or highlight what you think is important and begin to take a position. Next, you can start organizing your argument, sources,

Writing is a process in which many people struggle. Just getting started with the process can be overwhelming. The Purdue Online Owl Writing Lab website authors Stacy Weida and Karl Stolley give helpful insight into the beginning steps of the writing process. Together they address the issues faced by many people in their article entitled, Invention: Starting the Writing Process (February 9, 2011). Good writing takes time and planning. It is a good idea to set aside many different time slots to work on what you are writing. Writing evolves planning, prewriting, writing and many revisions. By leaving your writing for a few minutes and then returning you are able to get a fresh look at your work. “Find out when is the assignment due and devise
Writing papers is one thing you can guarantee yourself that you will have to do in college, along with other educational requirements. For some people, it might be a frustrating experience or a great opportunity to show their knowledge on a given topic; or sometimes both. Everyone has methods that work better for them than others and they learn to embrace those specific methods. Simple strategies such as outlining and good research can make writing a paper a more pleasant and less nerve-racking experience.
Writing a college paper, document, or thesis will always revolve around a theme or a set of questions that need to be answered. How that paper is developed depends on the process used by the author as there are many different ways to approach a written assignment. The article by Catherine Savini, “Looking for Trouble: Finding your way into a writing assignment”, essentially tells us that in order to write an informational paper we must first look for the problem, detail questions related to the problem, and then try to provide some type of answer for the questions.
During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and my grade, a B+, reflected my efforts. My resources were limited and the topic covered a subject that I did not find interesting at all. When I find something interesting to write about, that is when I can do my best work. When I wrote my term paper, I was not interested in the subject of the paper. I started looking up the information and successfully wrote the paper.
Writing is a process that takes multiple steps. Starting with brainstorming and finding a topic, then organizing the idea into an outline. Outlining is an important step as this is where you generally form your thesis statement. This tells the reader generally what your essay will be about. From that point forward forming a thesis statement as one of the first challenges in getting started helps in making a strong path to follow. This makes it easier to put your ideas from the outline into writing a rough draft. Once you have a first draft, proofread and edit to make a final, polished essay. Refreshing this process has helped me greatly in improving my personal writing.
When I am assigned to write an essay, the first thing I do is panic. I panic because I always seem to run into the same problems with my writing process. I have no central idea. I have no clue what I actually want to write about. When I was younger, I always started by making a web or an outline because thats what my teachers encouraged me to do in school, but I don’t do that anymore. Now I sit in front of my laptop, I take a deep breath, close my eyes, gather my thoughts, and type. I just let my thoughts flow onto the page. When I don’t feel the pressure of writing to an audience, my writing is completely different than it is when I am writing something that I know my professor or peers will read. As I am writing this exact sentence, I don’t quite know where I am going with it. My writing process is unorthodox and unorganized, but it is what I do everytime. When I stop trying to follow the linear model of writing, explained by Nancy Sommers as the process of forming an idea, writing about it, then revising afterwards, I feel that I am more capable of discovering something meaningful within my words. When I am forced to write a thesis statement and base my paper solely on it, it doesn’t come out as good as I think it should. It decreases the potential for my ideas to grow and discoveries to be made. It limits me to a single statement and narrows my thoughts, preventing me from discovery.
Time and good ideas will make for a good paper because when I begin writing a paper or an

I start my writing process with a list of possible topics to research. Once I have chosen a topic, I tend to do some initial research to get ideas for subtopics within the paper. I then start my online document and work on my introduction and, more importantly, my thesis or hook statement. I also add a brief explanation of the topic of each paragraph and proceed to look for evidence such as direct quotes to support the body of my paper. After I have found my evidence, I am able to develop my ideas around it. Usually, if I feel that the paragraph does not fully support my argument or topic, I add in more evidence and continue to build the section. While working on my body paragraphs, I also tend to go back to my introduction
Proper focus and breaks to readjust your fatigue while writing will give you a fresh outlook at your paper. Asking questions is the five W’s for your paper (Who, What, When, Where, and Why), it allows you to elaborate on your subject. Prewriting of any paper, first entails a topic, without a topic we would have nothing to write about. I like to use Mind mapping, when I write my research papers; I take a whiteboard and put my topic in the center of the board in a circle. Then I add extensions to the topic with more circles that are connected to one another by a single line between one another. These added circles will be my topic of paragraphs and the information I will be discussing within them. I usually do 4-5 sentences within my paragraphs with a closing statement and then transition to my next paragraph. I write about 3-5 different paragraphs and then with a closing statement that backs up the information that I have presented for my readers to read. Mind mapping is the biggest part of writing a paper, due to the changes you make as you develop your arguments or statement that you want to convey in your paragraphs from your mind maps data.
