Hello there fellow aspiring writers, and welcome to the first session of script writing tips for sims machinama. It's a real treat to watch a script you wrote be turned into an episode/film/part of a series for the first time. It's even better when that script carries over well to that visual adaptation and makes one hell of an awesome first episode/part that those watching will enjoy. So, how do we do that? Simply start off by following a few simple basics:

-When starting a series you want the material to be something you are passionate about, a topic/idea that fascinates you and provides the potential to be something others will be interested in aswell. Every series start with an idea or inspiration from a book, movie, t.v. show, anime, etc. Once you have that topic, it's time to plan. There's been many times I've seen a series that had such potential simply go down the drain due to lack of planning.

Movie makers have agendas. They get their ideas across by using cinematic techniques and styles which make us view a certain subject in the light that they put it in. I will discuss the differing techniques used by the makers of "Stepping Razor" and describe what the overall impression of the movie has on the viewer, and what the agenda of the director is.

Due to production costs and financial restrictions, the director and screenplay writer can never fully reproduce an entire literary work into a screen version. With the complications of time restriction in major motion pictures, a full-length novel is compacted into a two-hour film. This commonly leads to the interference in the sequence of events, alternation of plots and themes, and the elimination of important characters or events. But the one true adversary of novel-based films is Hollywood fabrication. Producers, directors, and playwrights add or eliminate events and characters that might or might not pertain to the storyline for the sake of visual appeal, therefore defacing the author’s work.
This short script THE TWILIGHT ZONE pays homage to Rod Serling and to the classic Twilight Zone series. The script easily engages the audience and pulls them into the world of the protagonist Martin Slone. Like the Twilight Zone, the tone is ominous. There are many twists and turns with a classic ironic ending in the spirit of the Twilight Zone or even an Alfred Hitchcock traditional film.
Authors of short stories, like Carter, have the freedom to write as much or as little as they want, in any manner they please. The genre of short stories is so vast and diverse that authors are allowed to write in different styles, lengths, and descriptiveness. However, the general public has specific expectations of films that producers, directors, writers, and actors must fulfill in order to create a successful film. In order for the audience to enjoy the film, Dan Rush couldn’t limit it to the ideas presented in Carver’s short story, he had to expand the details of the plot and provide more information to the audience. By providing more information and detail, this makes the film a more enjoyable and immersing experience for the audience.
