There are different elements to consider when listening to or observing instrumental music only. I believe instrumental music can be just as powerful as music with lyrics put to it.
When referring to worship music specifically there are similarities between most worship music arrangements. I tend to mainly listen for dynamics more than anything else of a song. Another obvious important element of instrumental music is determining what instruments are actually being played. The story that the music is trying to tell really depends on the instruments being used and the orchestration.
I have noticed over the years and as I grow in my knowledge of music that there is definitely a very common “road map” for songs. You typically have your intro, …show more content…

I love how impactful instrumental music can be just by how the dynamics are carefully planned out. In my opinion, worship music is not just a tool we can use to sing praises to God the music really takes you on a journey. And that story can be told through strong dynamics.

Other major chords and higher range notes have the ability to make people feel upbeat or happy.

Chords that are played in a higher range or that have a brighter timbre could automatically feel more positive than chords with a darker or boomy sound to them. When it comes to the melody of a song, melodies of a worship song are catchy and have a memorable rhythm. Orchestration of worship music can make or break the song as being an impactful piece or not. I previously talked about the different dynamic road maps of slower songs and faster more upbeat songs. Instrumentation is key to how the overall feel of the song should be. But ultimately my personal opinion all goes back to the spiritual side of composing. Worship
