Citizens of the World Are Succeeding in Lessening Global Poverty Globally, children struggle to find a decent education,if at all, parents scavenge for even the smallest crumb of bread to feed their family of four, five, or even more and themselves, millions of people are released from their job, roofs and shelters are taken from them in a blink of an eye. Abandoned by their friends, by their family, by those that should have cared, individuals and children wander the streets desperate for any act of kindness from strangers that scurried by daily avoiding eye contact. Poverty results in restraints upon populations in education, finance, human potential, substance and shelter, gender class differences, all disadvantages that tax food sources, diminishing the potential of the cultures’ youth, loss of capital in maintenance and little for prospering of tenable wealth. Ending global poverty empowers a major objective of humanity. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty (Poverty Facts And Stats par. 4), and that’s only children. Even though the number may seem surprisingly large, it was greater in the previous years. The chart “Poverty levels over time world population(%)” shows the percentage of poverty level decreasing as the years pass by (Poverty Facts And Stats). From over 30% surviving off of $1.00 a day to a little over 10%, citizens of the world are doing a successful job a bring publicity to world poverty and lessening the amount of people going through it, yet not all. Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names (par. 8). A billion people without the proper education, a billion people who would die for the riches and luxuries the middle-class, us, have, a billion people suffering from poverty, about 14% of the world population.
