First of all, students can learn more or obtain some things that are not from the classes of college. People learn some things by reading or watching. There is another way to learn better, involving in something that someone is learning. Taking a job that is related the students’ major. It can help students to know the job and knowledge of the major better. What we have learned in school into society is not enough for living in society. Theory combined with the actual, prepare for the future. Even more, students can gain experience from the job they are taking. The knowledge in the book is different with from the real work we are taking. Those textbooks show you the idea, but work is depended on our real action, which is a practice behavior. Working students not only can get material rewards, but also can obtain spiritual rewards. According to American Time Use Survey, full-time college students mostly spent 5.8 hours per day for education activities and related activities. There is still much time for students. They should do something to fill their free time to be meaningful. Students take 10 to 15 hours to work per week, they also study in college and earn degrees, and they are same with other students. Those who take a job per week will feel enriching, because they do not waste their time to do some indifferent things. They make their life meaningful and manage their time well. In the same way, students will feel proud of them and be confident, for the reason that they did the same way with other students in college, but they did more than them and did better than they did. In “Actually, College Is Very Much Worth It” , Andrew J. Rotherham opens this piece addressing the issue of whether or not college is “worth it”. Rotherham effectively builds his case that college is essentially the better choice for us. Additionally, he acknowledges opposition of those who are anti-college. Firstly, the documentary says the bad results of going to university is that 2/3 graduates have loans to pay because of the high tuition. Nevertheless, the degree which graduates get from the college is worthless and they can hardly find a job associated with their degree. Secondly, the documentary explain the reason of the result. In the past, students are able to afford the tuition of colleges without others’ help; However, now the government provide easy loans which students can’t pay off to students without credit requirement and some students use loans to buy things which is not irrelevant to education.

Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face “the real world.” Having part-time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for “the real world.” Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get experience.
Summary: In the essay, “Part-time Employment Undermines a Student’s Commitment to School” by Laurence Steinberg, it explains how studies show that teenagers that work while attending school are more likely to loose their commitment to school. Steinberg tells the effects on students when they work more than twenty hours a week. His theory was that students are more susceptible to losing their interest in school, while working. They may have to work in the evening time, which can interfere with homework, sleep and diet. Steinberg also elaborated on how these students that work receive money that can make school seem less desirable. Also because they do receive money, they can use their extra money to become associated with drugs and alcohol.
But many low-income students not only have a full-time course schedule, they also have jobs where they work more than 30 hours per week. Approximately one-quarter of college students’ work while attending school and have both a full course-load and a full-time job (Carnevale, Smith, & Melton, 2015). Working helps students with the living costs as well as tuition and can help students learn skill sets that many employers prefer. However, there are problems with having full-time work while going to college.
