Windows Media Services
Overview
The windows media services lets users stream videos to clients of choice over the network. Windows Server (version 2008 or above) is required to deploy the computer as a server and be able to provide video streaming to clients over the network.
Windows Media Server (Required for streaming to clients): It streams video as well as digital audio content to clients which can be other computers on the network or devices on that network. These clients need to have a media player preferably Windows Media player in order to be able to play back the content streamed. Clients can also be servers themselves which further redistribute the streamed content or can also be mere applications that have been built using Windows Media SDK.
Windows Media Services allows live streaming as well as prerecorded media content. However, for live streaming it is important to use an encoding software like Microsoft Expression Encoder for broadcasting live stream. [1]
Use cases for Windows Media Services would include:
Companies providing wireless broadband entertainment services
Radio, cable or television content providers
Distributors of film and music that needs secure distribution without network congestion.
Companies that host fast streaming videos to homes and offices.

Proxy / Cache Management: The Windows Media Server can be configured in such a way that it serves as reverse proxy server or as a cache / proxy server. This will allow to provide proxy and caching support to other servers. One of the major advantages of having a server that provides proxy and caching support for the media content is that it reduces operational costs and better streaming for users by offsetting the load from the ori...

In order to enhance the efficiency, an image cache server is placed in this system. Maps are usually static, but most map servers render WMS data every time they are queried. This situation can result in unnecessary processing and increased waiting times. In this UMS, an image cache server is added to store all map tiles. When a user requests a map from the cache server...

Using WSUS allows us to implement a Windows Update management system that includes a process for updating and installing patches on a regular monthly basis as well as a procedure to test those updates before we push them out to all of our servers company wide. WSUS should become an integral part of our network management plan. In addition MMC allows us the ability to have granular control of our system performance by monitoring the servers through the Performance Monitor module. WSUS combined with MMC will give us the most up to date an efficiently performing network that we can imagine.
In the United States, most of us probably feel that we live in a relatively free environment. We are proud to live in a country in which we are supposedly given the freedom of choice. We are proud of our freedom to voice our opinions. We feel no pressure to conform, but we do every day in ways that we are completely unaware of. We are oblivious to the messages we are constantly receiving from the media, messages that tell us how we should think, feel, and act, and this oblivion makes us all the more vulnerable.
Data that is transmitted can either be in digital form, for example originating from a data sources like computer etc. or it can be in analog form such as a video/audio signal which is then digitized into a bit-stream by using modulation techniques or source coding schemes like data compression and analog to digital conversion. The modern modulation techniques include pulse width and pulse code modulation. The codec equipment helps in carrying out the source coding and decoding work.
In today’s technology boom, the new waves of doing business have transformed the way people shop and live. The same happened the way people access personal entertainment. With Internet, people can stream movie online without have to go theater, or the rental movie box.
Peer-to-peer is a communications model in which each party has the same capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Other models with which it might be contrasted include the client/server model and the master/slave model. In some cases, peer-to-peer communications is implemented by giving each communication node both server and client capabilities. In recent usage, peer-to-peer has come to describe applications in which users can use the Internet to exchange files with each other directly or through a mediating server.

The media extensions for the Intel Architecture (IA) were designed to enhance performance of advanced media and communication applications. The MMX™ technology provides a new level of performance to computer platforms by adding new instructions and defining new 64-bit data types, while preserving compatibility with software and operating systems developed for the Intel Architecture.
Streaming makes use of a single image file that is streamed over a network into end users computers. In this type of virtualization end users may no longer need a local hard drive. The only thing the user will need is a memory and a CPU to run the streamed OS or application. Other platforms like VDI and application virtualization have already applied streaming, so this can be taken as a part of those stands.
A network can be based on either a peer-to-peer level or server-based, also referred to as domain-based. To distinguish the difference, a peer-to-peer network, also known as a workgroup, is a network in which a group of computers are connected together to share resources, such as files, applications, or peripherals. The computers in a peer-to-peer network are peers to one another, meaning no single computer has control over one another. There is also no central location for users to access resources, which means that each individual computer must share their files in order for other computers to have access (Muller, 2003, p.411). “In a peer-to-peer environment, access rights are governed by setting sharing permissions on individual machines.” (Cope, 2002) On the other hand, in a domain-based network, the computers connected together are either servers or clients. All of the other computers connected to the network are called client computers. The server is a dedicated machine that acts as a central location for users to share and access resources. The server controls the level of authority each user has to the shared resources. When logging on to the network, users on client machines are authenticated by the server, based on a user name and password (Lowe, 2004, p.13).
