Alternative Renewable Energy “Windmills”
Renewable energy is an alternative to fossil fuels and nuclear power, and was commonly called alternative energy in the 1970s and 1980s. Scientists have advanced a plan to power 100% of the world's energy with wind, hydroelectric, and solar power by the year 2030. I am writing this paper about Alternative Renewable Energy I have chosen to write about Windmills or Wind Turbines, this is the future in power generation if we want to continue life as we know it with plenty of electricity to spare. I will discuss both land windmills and offshore windmills a great alternative to fossil fuels. Most people around the world know we need alternative energy sources. It does not matter if the driving force is to reduce greenhouse gas production or the limited supply of fossil fuel. We have to have energy to survive. “There will not be a single solution such as hydrogen, solar, bio, wind, etc. but rather a combination of solutions. It starts with more communities accepting the eyesore of wind and/or solar energy farms. Every watt we make with renewable energy is one less watt made from burning fossil fuels, and every watt helps.”(Bigham) There is a sense that times are about to change in the energy markets. The governor of California has been sporting plans to change the environmental direction of his state no matter what anybody else says. A few of those plans are currently being considered by the U.S. Supreme Court. Brazil has pretty much eliminated its dependency on fossil fuels to power their vehicles by changing to ethanol. Spain has led the way in Europe by growing its production of wind-generated electricity to nearly 5 percent of its total. Some have claimed the success demonstrated in Spain...

Windmills or Wind Turbines as an Alternative Source of Energy Essay

- Many people today are spending quantities of money for the electric bill without knowing that their hurting their wallet and their environment. It harms the environment because the fuel you receive in your electric bill is called traditional, which is made of fossil fuels. These fossil fuels create pollution in the air affecting our ozone layer. A solution for this problem would be to leave the traditional fuel and enter to the new world of alternative energy. My alternative energy is wind energy which is caused by wind turbines or windmills....   [tags: clean power production, renewable resources]

Essay on The Effects Of Renewable Energy Sources On The Environment

- Renewable energy sources have plenty of benefits that can help not only the environment, but ourselves too. Countries all over the world (some quicker than others) are making the switch to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power and eliminating the use of burning fossil fuels for power. We are all aware of the dangers that accompany the use of burning fossil fuels for energy. They have had a negative impact on the earth’s ozone layer and have contributed to a large amount of habitats for animals to be disturbed due to the process of mining for coal or drilling for petroleum....   [tags: Renewable energy, Wind power, Fossil fuel]

Renewable Energy Is An Alternative For Energy Essay

- With the ever growing increase in population, the demand for energy is increasing every day, and our dependence on non-renewable energy will one day come to an end. Energy is readily available everywhere and can be primarily classified into two principal groups, non-renewable and renewable. Non-renewable energy comes in numerous forms such as coal, oil, natural gas. However, these types of non-renewable energy resources are only available in limited supplies, and once they 're used up, they cannot be replaced....   [tags: Wind power, Wind turbine, Fossil fuel]

Benefits Of Alternative Energy For Renewable Energy Essay

- Benefits of Alternative Energy On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil drill exploded; thirteen people were killed and many were injured. 206 million gallons of oil was dumped into the Gulf of Mexico. This event attracted many new supporters of alternative energy (Issitt & Warhol). Alternative energy refers to any energy source other than fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are materials including natural gas, coal, and oil; they are cheap to produce, easy to distribute, and provide most of the electricity used in the world’s technology....   [tags: Wind power, Fossil fuel, Petroleum]

Wind - A Renewable Energy Source Essay example

- Wind - A Renewable Energy Source Wind is called a renewable energy source because wind will continually be produced as long as the sun shines on the earth. The sun’s contribution to wind energy deals with converting air into heat or cool wind. Wind is produced by the irregular heating of the earth’s surface by the sun. On land, the warm air spreads and goes up in the sky, in the water, heavier and cooler air moves in to take the warm air’s place, thus providing local winds. This power source should be used more often in the United States for its safer standards regarding the environment and finance....   [tags: Alternative Energy Research Papers]

People warn about possible exhaustion of stocks of oil, gas other major resources such as iron and copper. For about forty years after the end of Second World War, the mineral raw materials provided almost all energy for humanity; as a result, people consumed it in big amounts. From the beginning of the twenty first century, the world power is based on non-renewable energy sources. Today the main energy resources are oil, gas and coal....   [tags: Environment, Solar Energy]
