Middle school at St. Mary’s started it all. In seventh grade, my teacher, Miss Hoch, started to introduce us to writing papers. Brainstorming, outlines, and short three paragraph papers were all we had to do, but those three paragraphs were a struggle for me. At home, I sat in front of my piece of notebook paper and pencil. I sat for hours. I could not come up with a topic to write my three paragraphs over. Finally, an idea popped into my head. Excited, I picked up my pencil and started writing away. When I was done, I was so proud of my work. I knew it would be the best one. I turned it in the next day and waited. A couple weeks later, my teacher returned my paper to me. Red markings all over the paper is what I saw. My heart dropped. What I had thought was an A+ assignment ended up being a low C. Another paper she assigned. Taking note all her corrections and suggestions on my last paper, I went to work. Again, I turned it in feeling confident with what I had written. I waited. Each day that went by I grew more and more nervous and less confident. Finally, the day arrived. My teacher handed back my paper. I...

I still am not the best of writer, but through the help of Miss Raglin I hope to one day be as great of a writer as she is. Many of her students have published several successful books. They are all really good writers and I hope to one day be able to publish a book also.
Writing was not always a fun activity for me. I dreaded the paper assignment my teacher would assign to me in middle school. Every time I would receive my paper back, it would be covered in red correction marks with a bad grade on top.High school, however, changed that for me because of one teacher: Miss Raglin. Miss Raglin inspired me to work hard on my writing skills. She taught me everything that I know about writing papers. She taught me to not be afraid to achieve greatness, and one day I will be a great writer.
