Loyalty to another person can cause people to act without thinking. Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a dramatic play about two lovers and the quest for love. Many of the decisions that were made throughout the play were bad decisions and affected Mercutio and Juliet’s outcome greatly. While Mercutio and Juliet both make decisions out of lack of impulse control, Mercutio also makes decisions that are influenced by violence, and Juliet makes decisions that are influenced by suicidal actions.
Mercutio is a clever, short-tempered, and a sharp witted man who loves to fight out of anger when threatened or criticized. Mercutio is known for having anger issues and does not think before getting involved. After a run in with Tybalt, “Consort? What,

This includes fighting, vandalism, and opposing sides using threats or weapons. When Tybalt challenges Romeo, Mercutio gets mad at Romeo for not fighting and fights Tybalt for him, which causes Mercutio’s death. In a recent study by Susan E. Rivers, “Anger occurs in response to perceived threats or injustices when there is someone or something to blame” (Rivers, 393). In this case, the Montagues and the Capulets were both to blame for Mercutio’s death rather than fate. In the words of Pullen, “Adolescents might also exhibit anger when ‘He is criticized, embarrassed, underestimated, or ignored, and perceive such situations as threats…’ An attack on an adolescent’s personality might be internalized to anger against self or lead to anger rage against others, or the individual who is doing the criticizing/ embarrassing” (Pullen, 3). This is why Mercutio wanted to fight with Tybalt. There is also science behind Juliet’s suicidal …show more content…

Romeo and Juliet make impulsive decisions throughout the play. Many of these decisions are made because Romeo and Juliet’s brain is immature. In Act 1 Romeo and Juliet make impulsive,
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet demonstrate the ignorance and susceptibility of men to making impulsive decisions without considering the consequences.
The first of his many traits is his profound wit. Throughout the play Mercutio seizes every opportunity to turn a phrase into a speech of puns and metaphors. Skillfully crafted, these orations often grasps the duplex meanings of words, speaking in those terms to refer to other things. At one such point, Tybalt
The play shows that hasty and rash decisions can have fatal and tragic consequences for some characters in ‘Romeo and Juliet”
The Significance of Mercutio in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The name Mercutio is derived from the word mercurial which means eloquent, active and changeable; Mercutio is all three.
Hasty actions created by mankind's careless actions throughout history. They are people who don’t think through about their decisions properly, tend to make more mistakes. Written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet are about two young, star-crossed lovers who are secretly in love with each other. However, they have found themselves facing obstacles left and right, and have very few allies on their side. They’re thrown into these challenges because Mercutio wanted to protect Romeo’s pride, however, Tybalt intervenes and challenges Romeo to a duel, but Romeo doesn’t want to fight Tybalt. Thus, Mercutio decides to take the challenge upon himself and duels with Tybalt. Nonetheless, Mercutio, Tybalt, and Romeo’s thoughtless action had brought upon grief and trouble into the feuding families throughout the play.
“Love makes you foolish. It makes you throw every bit of logic away, do stupid things, dangerous things,” quoted by Melissa Marr. People in love lose their sense of logic and this emotion may cause them to act prior to thought. In the book Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall madly in love. This evoked a quixotic relationship, and their extreme feelings incited an abundance of irrational decisions. Since the two met, they ceased acting like themselves and only cared about each other. They made careless decisions without considering all of the possible consequences. Throughout the book, Shakespeare displays his opinion that love creates foolish decisions.
In William Shakespeare’s play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ the main characters are responsible for their own deaths because they refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions. Romeo acts irresponsibly throughout the play making inappropriate decisions. Juliet is persuaded out of her apprehensions by Romeo and is blinded by her unrealistic love for Romeo. However, the two lovers cannot be blamed entirely for their own deaths as other characters and the two lovers’ feuding families hold responsibility.
In the Shakespearean play, Romeo & Juliet, aggression is represented in different ways by the different characters in the play. Tybalt, Romeo, Benvolio, and the others all have their own way of dealing with hate and anger. Some do nothing but hate while others can’t stand to see even the smallest of quarrels take place.
Mercutio can be blamed for Romeo and Juliet’s peril because he initiated the fight with Tybalt and forced Romeo to go to the Capulet’s party. At the beginning of the play, Romeo gets invited to the Capulet’s party by a servant, unless he was a Montague. At first, Romeo did not want to go, but Mercutio eventually convinced him under the pretext that Rosaline, Romeo’s love, was going to be there. The next day, Tybalt, a Capulet, went looking for Romeo because he knew that Romeo was at the Capulet party. Instead, he stumbled upon Mercutio and Benvolio and asked them where he could find Romeo. However, Mercutio did not want to tell him and insisted on having a duel. Tybalt killed Mercutio during the fight, and Romeo kills Tybalt because he has the need to avenge his friend. Unfortunately, Prince Escalus punished Romeo by banishing him from Verona. This made Romeo and Juliet’s love
Sometimes when people are amongst conflict, they act impetuously in certain situations. In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, careless actions take place by the characters when they are put into stressful and difficult situations. They are not thought through and result in consequences for more than just themselves. In Romeo and Juliet when in the midst of conflict, characters tend to think and act impulsively and not think of the reaction to their actions. They do not think of the consequences their actions may bring, or how they may affect others in the future.
It is human nature to place blame and point fingers at someone, but it is a lot less common to take responsibility for your own actions. Sometimes, we put ourselves in positions that are detrimental to our lives or well-being. Even though we are responsible, it is likely that we will place the blame elsewhere. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio found himself with a similar conflict. Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, killed Mercutio during a fight in the town square. It would be easy to say that Tybalt caused Mercutio’s death since it was his sword that killed him, but that is simply false. Mercutio ignored many warnings and continued to antagonize the fight that lead to his death. The character ultimately responsible for Mercutio’s death is
Teenagers are notorious for their impulsive actions, a trait that stems from a lock of maturity, which can have devastating consequences. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main characters, Romeo, was no exception to this rule, as he acted impulsively and ultimately paid the price for his actions. Romeo’s decision to attend the Capulet’s party led to him being recognized by Tybalt, who in turn became infuriated and vowed revenge. This ultimately led to the fight in which Mercutio was slain by Tybalt, who was killed by Romeo after he once again acted impulsively by letting his emotions control him, an action that led to his banishment from within Verona walls. Romeo exhibited his impulsive nature once more when
Romeo and Juliet choose their own actions through their judgments, which were caused by their belief of everlasting love. Due to their unsound and absurd attitudes, both characters are dazed by love in a puerile manner. The relationship they created was actually built on lust and desperation. Firstly, Romeo is the first character whom shows immature love in the story as a whole. Once Capulet’s party is over, Romeo’s attitude leads him to jump over the wall to Juliet’s house and exclaim to her,” And what love can do, that dares love attempt./Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me”(2.2.68-9). The effect of love caused Romeo to not pay attention to the consequences of jumping over the wall and talking to the daughter of his enemy. The flaw is that he is beginning to think that his love is as hard as nails. It is illogical for Romeo to think this...
Ultimately, Romeo and Juliet become embodiments of impulsiveness. Through their rash words and actions in the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, Shakespeare sets forth that both are too hasty in their decisions, leading them into unfortunate events. As the plot unfolds, Romeo and Juliet’s futile love is torn apart by their family’s hate and animosity towards each other. Despite their constant struggle to let their love survive, it is doomed from the beginning of the tragedy. It is plain that lack of foresight and wisdom leads to disaster all around.
