A 13-year-old sexually assaults an 8-year-old neighbor over a two year period. A 17-year-old takes a gun to school and executes numerous pupils and teachers. These four scenarios should be pondered by today’s society. Are children delinquent because of their parents or their peers? Whether they are influenced by peers or their parents do not enforce appropriate behavior it should always come back to the parents. If a child lives in an unstable home where his/her parents do not enforce appropriate behavior the child will not display appropriate behavior in public. DNA Leader Branville McCartney makes another good point by saying, “We need to catch these things from young. A parent won’t be saying ‘my good son’ if they are found liable for their son’s actions” The root of every problem starts at home and if the problem is not corrected our society will be doomed. When parents decide to enforce appropriate behavior in their children we will begin to see a positive domino effect in our society. After reinforcing appropriate behavior in the youth we will see an increase in the protection and control parents have over their children. In the Pocono Mountains of Northern Pennsylvania, Cameron Kocher lethally shot his seven-year-old friend with a high powered hunting rifle. Kocher was playing video games with the girl prior to the shooting. She told him that she was better than him at the game, then went outside with her other friends to ride snowmobiles. Kocher’s parents would not let him ride snowmobiles with the rest of the group. He went to his father’s gun cabinet, retrieved a hunting rifle, loaded it, pointed it out the window of their home, and shot the girl in the back as she and a friend rode by. There is no information on Kocher’s background, but it could be assumed that there is the possibility he was raised in a “violent” home. He may have watched his dad shoot animals and bring them home and thought nothing of it when he shot and killed his seven-year-old friend off the back of a snowmobile in March 1989. Throughout the book, Samenow states that most parents blame themselves for the way their children behave. A lot of the time parents are blamed by others for their child’s irresponsible actions, which then causes the parents to blame themselves. Children begin to make their own choices at a very early age, as they grow older the choices they make become more complex. Although parents can be very influential to a child, they cannot control the child’s mindset. The parenting techniques that parents use may play a small role in a child’s behavior, they do not create antisocial children. Parents need to stop blaming themselves whenever their children make bad choices because it is the child himself that makes that decision, not the parents.

When a person makes a bad choice the can continue to make bad choices. Many of the people that surround a person can have an effect of by the way they act and do things. If a person makes bad choices it can be corrected easily early on. Sometimes it can be too late. If family and friends help support a child they can provide a strong support base by helping them grow up into a stronger and more stable person in the big world.Therefore there are numerous factors that go into the molding process of a child’s mind and lifestyle. It is a Friday afternoon in Charlesbay High School. Students are piling into the lunch lines awaiting hot pizza, fresh French fries and ice-cold sodas. As the students discuss what they are going to do after the football game and how their 1st hour test was, a gunshot is heard not far away. The students are ordered to stay low to the ground by school security guards. None of the students know what is happening outside the lunch lines. What is going on is a 17-year old frenetic boy who attends Charlesbay, got upset with a couple students. He was sick of hearing them call him “dumb” or “butterball” and pushing him around the hallways. Robby, we’ll call him, took matters into his own hands and decided to do something about his bullies. The way Robby obtained his gun was by a friend, an older friend. This lethal weapon caused the death of 3 students and 5 injuries. What was just explained seems to be a typical storyline heard on the news daily.
The father’s upbringing was such that financial stability was the priority. The child learned that dads are busy and do not have time to spend with their children. What a devastating realization for a child to conclude. Yet like most little boys, this one wanted to grow up to be like his role model, no matter the example. During the time from childhood to adolescent, parental influence can be either beneficial or detrimental. If the parents have a stable home, clear boundaries and open communications with their teens, the transition could flow easier. The perfect father does not guarantee the child will not rebel.
The Family Prevention Policy may seem like something simple with the main goal of keeping the families together, but there are many services that go into it. By keeping families together, children escape many negative consequences. Throughout time, children have not always had rights, but now they are being fought for on a regular basis and social workers are looking out for the best interests of these children.
Kids are like sponges, they have the capacity of absorbing everything that is around them. If a kid grows with an unstable family and around a bad environment they will only become as bad as the individuals around them. This is because they do not know any better. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Another public school has turned into an area of a disaster. On Tuesday morning, sixteen people were wounded and another two died after an open fire shooting took place in western Kentucky. A 15 year old student was arrested with charges or murder. According to a student at the high school the suspect came armed with a handgun at 8:57 a.m, 911 was called two minutes later. The victims of this unfaithful occurrence were aged around fourteen to eighteen, fourteen were male the other six females.

If the parents are not teaching his or her child what is right from wrong, then it may leave the child to experiment for themselves, like becoming involved in bad activity. Children start to act rebellious at home such as screaming, breaking objects, and even causing physical harm. However, when the minor encounters an argument with an individual they can physically harm or kill the individual. Such as, the massacre in high schools, the students that are bullied, plan to get back at the people by using violent actions. In other words the massacre shooting in West Paducah, Kentucky, and Littleton, Colorado, the high school students gained the knowledge of how to use a weapon to kill students. Since they have been harm by classmates, these students were furious which lead them to act violently towards their classmates by killing them.
