Why is Math Important? Math is a requirement in almost all schools. People learn math from the time they start school to the time they finish college. Math gets tougher and tougher as they pass through the years. It goes from 2+2= 4 when they are in kindergarten/1st grade to f(x)= 4x+8y>xy when they are in college. It is important because math can be used in the world in many ways from architecture to little things like the configuration of softball scores. Math may be deprecated by the general population, and the general concept of math may lie hidden from many students, but nevertheless, math is the foundation of the modern world. We see very few word problems in math classes. If people cannot comprehend what it is they are trying to solve, they cannot solve it very well. Math is simply a subject that is presented to everyone to understand the world better. To solve problems in the world of work, people must use all available tools, including mathematics and computation. Subjects that students are taught in school are tools that are put into a lifetime toolbox for future uses (Roman) . Teachers often do not teach students about the beautiful interchange between the tools, and how they can work together to better and completely solve problems. The importance of mathematics and computation in medicine and safety inspires an appreciation of how effective use of mathematics has contributed to lengthening our lifespan (Roman). When a doctor says you have a certain percentage chance of a full recovery, she is not just guessing. Mathematical calculations be used to back up her prediction. Medicine and drugs are serious business, and without the correct dosages, it could cause harm to a person, rather than a benefit for them. Mathematics and statistics play crucial roles here. That is a good reason to remind students that taking illegal drugs is so dangerous: There is no way to measure the dosage.
