Recommended: self reflection and effective leadership

1. Do I agree or disagree with these results? Why?

I am not sure that I agree with all of the results. However, I believe they may be accurate. First, I will explain my technical skills. I scored a 24, which is on the bottom end of the high range. I am not surprised by this score. I agree that I have learned technical skills from school and at work. I have financial knowledge, sale experience, and a high level certification as a graphic applier that is based on my abilities (Professional Decal Applicators Association). However, the reason I agree with the this score is because I know that I can continue to improve on my technical skills. I will continue to learn more at RIT that I can apply to my career in the future. As human skills go, I …show more content…

However, the more that I learn about leadership, the more my definition has evolved. Between the knowledge of leadership traits and leadership skills, my definition has expanded on the attitude or culture that I originally mentioned. I do not see myself as a strong leader. However, I know that I have some leadership skills. It will be important for me to continue to think about how I can continue to develop my technical, human, and conceptual skills, so that I can be the best leader I can be. However, Northouse (2015) continued to explain a few other skills that are important for leaders to possess. Some of those skills are motivation, social judgement, problem-solving skills. These are also importatnt skills that a leader must demonstrate. I need to work on all of these skills to be a better leader and will work to remind myself of all the different types of leadership skills, so that I can continue to improve as a leader.

4. What skills, if any, do I need to acquire to be a better leader?

All-in-all after reading about leadership skills, I think that I have a lot to work on. I already demonstrate some leadership skills (such as human and problem-solving skills). However, I know that I could be a better motivator and improve on my conceptual skills. Also, I think that all of my leadership skills can be improved on.
