Recommended: Relationship theory on abortion

Life vs. “Life” A devil is what I have been called by former debating classmates. If believing that all women should have the right to abortion makes me a devil, so be it. Aborting an unwanted fetus can make a world’s difference to an ongoing life. Whether that ongoing life is successful, poor, unhealthy, happy, or sad; having an unplanned baby can disrupt a life already set in motion. A majority of the time a life set in motion cannot afford to be disrupted with a new-coming life. Many factors come with unplanned newborn babies such as financial burdens, finding babysitters, and not to mention the emotional and mental stress load. Legalizing and approving abortion will be key to safer procedures, will end the mix of religion and law, and will relieve many pregnant women conflicted with the price of a new life. Dangerously unsafe attempts of abortion are encountered with everyday. Some attempts of self induced abortion include the harm of sharp insertion of objects into the cervix, vagina, or direct force to the abdomen. Examples of sharp objects that would be inserted into a woman's cervix or vagina are things such as roughly broken bones of cooked chicken, a unwired coat hanger, or sharpened sticks. Direct force to the abdomen is self explanatory, but just to explain the extent of the unsafety in this situation attempters will most of the time withstand punches, kicks, belly flops, and even heavyweights tossed toward their baby bumps. I am mentioning just a few of many other weird tactics of abortion that all fall under unsafe procedures. Honestly, I do not know what these attempters think; do they think that if they poke or scratch the baby it will disappear and their worries are over? Fools. However, the policy does not state that funds will be withheld if the US taxpayer’s money is used; it states that monies will be withheld if abortion services are offered at all, even if it is not US money. Douglas Johnson the legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee states, the “government will no longer..try to legalize abortion in countries in Latin America, Africa, and Muslim countries in which people are strongly opposed to abortion and believe in the protection of unborn children.” What Johnson fails to recognize is that in countries where abortion is legal women’s rights are being compromised. U.S. Representative Christopher H. Smith expresses his feelings in his article “A Congressional View: The Unborn Must be Protected” (Global Issues Electronic Journal) by stating, “Abortion is child abuse.” Smith also comments that when the policy was previously in effect it had no affect on the family planning money received by NGO’s. It may not have affected the money received but it did affect women who were denied the option of abortion services.
