What is evolution? Evolution is the process of change over time, it could be a change from something simple to more complex. To start it of, I grew up in a Christian home so I was raised to believe that God created the heaven and earth. But after reading Jerry A. Coyne’s book, “Why Evolution Is True”, I started to develop some beliefs of my own. Coyne’s purpose in writing this book is to prove the evidence of evolution and to show that evolution is true. “Vestiges are features of a species that was an adaptation in its ancestors, but that has either lost its usefulness completely or has been adopted for new uses” (Jerry A. Coyne, p. 57). The animals he mostly talks over for this definition are ostriches that originated starting with winged creatures that utilize to fly. In spite of those ostriches could no more fly, they could at present utilize their wings for diverse works. Winged creatures that can 't fly bring formed separate utilization to their wings. Furthermore, it may be astounding for case for those penguin they use their wings likewise flippers. Some birds lose their abilities to fly because predators are generally missing from islands. Wings are easily injured and a bird without may be less likely to get injured and therefore more likely to survive and reproduce. Vestigial eyes were another important factor. The only thing they use their eyes for is to detect low light levels. Atavisms are traits that only appears occasionally in a population due to a gene being turned on/off when it shouldn’t be. An example in animals would be extra horse toes or and extra dolphin flippers. In humans it would be a tail but the tails cannot be used or contain any
