Why Do Students Cheat ?

“It is not a question of who cheats, it is a question of who cheats the most”. If everybody does it then why does it matter if you cheat every once in a while to get by. If students successfully pull it off then they easily slip by on a test or homework assignment without having to do anything, giving them more time to do leisurely activities. The reason some students cheat is deeper than that most of the time, with college requirements becoming higher, students struggle to reach those requirements without a little help sometimes. Students resort to cheating due to GPA’s, the pressure, and the reward.

To start, GPA’s are simple, the higher the grade you get the higher your GPA will be. To be able to play in any high school athletics a student's GPA must stay above a 2.3. Colleges look at GPA’s and can determine if they accept students or not based off of them. So to a student, keeping up your GPA can mean the world to them, because they know that if they don't keep it up they will not be able to play the sport they love, or they will not be able to get into a good college and start a good life. “Students may opt to cheat in various ways to give themselves an edge with their grades or to help them get better marks in a class” (Wood). So these GPA’s can causes some student-athletes to want to cheat. With having to sit at school for seven hours, then go to their sport for three hours, it leaves very little time to be able to study six subjects and do the homework for all of them.”Students will turn to cheating to lighten the burden of homework which often takes as many hours to complete as a full time job” (Wood). ...t it is wrong. Cheating has its upsides and its downsides, but all really boils down to if students want to better themselves as a student by studying,, or just slide by with flying colors and cheat. So if you look at the question again, if we all cheat, who really does it the most?
