I believe different things influence different people. For me, growing up, it was the present I got for Christmas when I was ten years old. I had been begging my parents for this huge makeup kit that I saw at Ulta, when I was Christmas shopping with my mom. So when it came time to write my Christmas list, that kit was item number one. Therefore once Christmas morning came, I ran downstairs to open up my gifts and there it was. After that, every time someone came over our house, from my grandma to my aunts and even my own mom, I would ask them to do their makeup. I loved being able to take a person, and be able to enhance their beauty that much more with makeup. Granted at ten years old I didn’t see it that way, but I knew that I loved doing …show more content…
People, society and just about every judgmental person in the world sees makeup as a mask. I even did for a while. I saw it as a means to cover up your imperfections and make the world see you as something that you are not, and I could not have been more wrong. I loved watch tutorials and one day there was one that popped up that pretty much shifted my entire perspective. “The Power of Makeup” was a video by one of my favorite makeup artist Nikki De Jager. In the video she basically split her face in half. One side of her face being completely beautiful glamour makeup and the other side her fresh, clean and naked face. When she finished, she talked about how makeup is used to enhance beauty, not hide it. It gives people that extra confidence to show their true self to the word and use makeup as a form of self-expression to show your individuality, and to me that was absolutely amazing. I know I struggled with self-confidence when I was younger, but I treated makeup as a means to hide, not show myself and who I was. Thanks to that video, I now see the true beauty in makeup, body painting and special fx. It is a form of art that I want to continue doing for the rest of my life. Millions of images, videos, and words flash in front of our eyes every day. For a while I let them tell me what I needed to be, do and look like. I had lost my sense of uniqueness, and then one day my heart spoke for me. Having the opportunity to learn from the teachers at L Makeup and continue my passion, is probably one of the greatest gifts I can ask for. I believe different things influence different people, and makeup has inspired me to embrace myself and who I really am, and to chase after my dream
As part of our culture, while growing up boys and girls are expected to learn the basic skills to fulfill the "roles of their gender." For boys this includes learning all of the the routine maintenance on a car, to work out and be stronger then the girls, and are usually expected to be better with electronics. While at the same time girls are steered towards learning how to cook, clean, and look pretty. All of the female roles require a lot of practice and trial and error before they can be mastered, but the hardest and most time consuming skill to be learned still remains applying make-up. Just as anything else (even writing an essay) the finished product always seems so simple and easy enough to be done by a child in a few minutes. Although, in reality girls spend years doing trial and error to find out what looks good on them and a few more years making it look "natural." This is necessary for every girl go through on her own, to be able to have her own look. However, there is a routine make-up application process that will help any beginning girl with he basics.
All women wish to look their best on their wedding day, prom, or their ten year anniversary, so it is a makeup artist’s job to fulfil this desire. The art of emphasizing one’s most attractive features by highlighting the inner corner of the eye to brighten the eyes, contouring the cheeks to make the cheekbones appear higher and painting on bold lipstick to form perfect, plump lips make the face appear flawless. Some people do not wear makeup everyday, so when they do, their face can appear brightened and awake, therefore they believe they look wonderful. Although many people are confident in their appearance and do not demand makeup to boost their self-esteem, wearing well-applied makeup will always make someone feel
Operation Beautiful is the pride and joy of Plano Senior High School’s Student Council. Hours and hours of thinking brought them to the conclusion that to celebrate inner beauty one must remove all extremities that girls apply on their face every morning, more commonly known as makeup. On the day of Operation Beautiful, all girls wishing to participate in the festivities shall arrive to school with no artificial products or even natural products on their faces. I, for one, completely agree with the concept, after all, one must often take a step back in order to take two steps forward. We should not have to rely on makeup to make us appear more beautiful than is natural. I get the idea from the most beautiful planet in our solar system. Earth itself! Our Earth is covered with beautiful untouched forests, rolling hills and snowcapped mountains. And people should be expected to emulate the same purity and naturalness.
Dave Barry says, “I once saw an Oprah show wherein supermodel Cindy Crawford dispensed makeup tips to the studio audience”. With the help of Cindy Crawford and the makeup tips she gave to the studio audience, all the women knew how stressful it was to apply the makeup and that no matter how carefully they applied it, “they would never look remotely like Cindy Crawford”. They feel “not good enough.” Women are influenced to look as beautiful as possible because of the psychological and social reason to look like a supermodel such as Cindy
Photoshopping makeup to appear flawless also is false, as it wrongly shows what it will look like applied. It is used to make their product look better than it actually is. By editing away zits or acne scars to make their product seem to work, when in reality it doesn't work as well. Some claim that it is on the same health level as what we eat. “It's mandatory for food and medicine to be labeled accurately for the physical health of consumers -- why shouldn't images be labeled if they will affect the mental health of the reader?” (Menza). It should be mandatory for an altered picture to be labeled with Photoshop. Being Photoshop-free has its advantages; consumers can see how the size of their body or body shape will look in the item, and their self esteem in the item won't be diminished.
Young people are finding their purpose in life, and if makeup is part of their journey, it should be accepted. The pressure to be pretty, thin, perfect, and smart are all felt by young women which could alter their journey to feel satisfied with who they are.
Just like the constantly changing fashion world, makeup fads come and go. However, what never changes is the correct approach to applying makeup to achieve the ultimate goal of looking the best you possibly can.
my opponent may argue but I assure you, the vast majority of today 's youth is this way. With the stars on the radio, and plastered onto our Tv’s how can you escape the views of the perfect woman? Now a lot of people may wear makeup to make them love themselves... another topic that I will refute. How come they don 't love their bodies and faces? Because Brad the head dick of the football team is more concerned with the skinny waisted cheerleaders? So because Brad doesn 't like her, she wears makeup to cover up her feelings, and dosing her true unrivaled beauty. Some make up once and awhile sure, I understand that too, but trying to look like a plastic barbie doll, is not healthy. The celebrities makeup seem essential, when it 's truly not. To add onto that, how is picking someone else apart because they didn 't wear makeup a good thing? There is very deep gender roles that make women torture themselves simply because they aren 't perfect and I think the people around them play a big role in
When it comes to wearing make-up; everyone can agree that it is a necessity for even a brief trip to the grocery store. Tabloids, magazines, television, and social media have portrayed unrealistic images of what we are supposed to look like, resulting in a hefty price tag for anxiety and low self-esteem when this image is not met. Thus, turning men and women into cosmetic addicts with no age boundaries. This paper first discusses existing research that focuses on the products safety regulations. From this research, we then continued to investigate multi-million-dollar tags cosmetics carry and the claims they make. We conclude with our addiction theory and how strongly the public feels that make-up addiction is very real.
The social norm that I violated was the idea of only women wearing makeup. This norm acts as social control because it creates an expectation that women must be perfect and look perfect at all times to fit men’s likings. It is also a distinguisher between birth genders, as makeup adds a “feminine” look to the wearer. To violate this normal I will wear makeup on my face during the school day.
Over the last five years, I have been collecting makeup. Over these years, I have discovered all of the different types of makeup and the different uses for it. In this essay, I will be informing my audience of the benefits of different kinds of makeup as well as their uses.
Make up has been around for about 12 thousand years. Woman use makeup to make them look more beautiful, woman now and back that weren’t happy with their natural beauty so they chose to event or come up with something that would make them beautiful. Woman got the idea that they would use some things form nature that they found and smashed it or do something to but on their face. At first it was a poisons thing to use but now a days makeup have reached a point that it’s not dangers to put on now. In this paper making to talk about the different make up their development of each. Some of the makeup history that I’m going to talk about are lipstick, mascara, eye liner, Eye shadow, body painting and a little about nail polish. I’m also going to talk about who wear makeup. I am going to explain why they wear makeup and what it meant to wear makeup.
...ently, one may act differently as well with a new attitude and confidence. While makeup is concealing the faults in appearance, it is also concealing the faults in character, which is another myth.
...ounds, having good hair, and covering themselves in makeup are what beauty should be perceived as. Every time someone flips through a magazine, sees a picture of a model and wish to look like them, they are contributing to an idea they are supposedly disgusted by. People might think that they have never done anything to support this, but everyone has. Everybody feels the pressure from society, because it is pressure from us. They only way to stop this is by not supporting “things” that advance this idea and by not feeding into it, so in the end it will eventually die.
