As archaeology and paleoanthropology have discovered a multifarious amount of fossils, it has developed a dilemma that dates back to the 1900’s between the teaching of evolution and creationism in the U.S. These are two different perspectives on the commencing of life on earth, evolution is a process by which different varieties of current living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. Meanwhile, creationism is the literal interpretation of the biblical passages pertaining to the Book of Genesis. The situation is that creationist teaching is either being taught in science classrooms or evolution is being opted out because it contradicts religious belief. Creationism should not be taught in U.S. public schools in science classrooms because it is a violation of the constitution, it is not an actual science, and will affect future generations pursuing in science.
The creationist teaching violates federally mandated clauses that are embedded in the constitution. There are two clauses referred to as the “religion clauses” which dictates how the government and religion interact. The first clause (Free exercise clause) states that citizens have the right to exercise their religion, the second clause (establishment clause) is the exclusion from government involvement from establishing a religion. There are three categories that religion and public schools fall into; inside acts, outsider access, and curriculum concerns. They deal with issues regarding actions done by students or faculty members, outside organizations attempting to spread a religious message, and the academic issue pertaining to intelligent design being the most suitable option for educating students abo...

In conclusion, creationism should not be taught in public schools in a science classroom and neither should it receive any more teaching than a differing religion when speaking is a historical context. The founding fathers did not establish the country on religious ideologies, on the contrary they believed that a strong nation should separate the church and the state. It is crucial that individuals base their arguments and perspectives on subjects of which there is an understanding and not religious ideals that do not have any supporting empirical evidence. Given the contemporary status of the world which is enthralled with viruses, diseases, and malnourishment it would benefit every individual to educate themselves and become scientifically literate in aspiration to improve scientific advancements and improve the future.
