When college students graduate college, they should feel accomplished. They completed years of work at school to go into the workforce. They have done it. They learn so much in college that should help them out for the rest of their lives. Not only should they receive their satisfaction from economic security but from learning how to be responsible, their education, and value.
Responsibility is one of the bigger things that a college should be learning from college. Learning how to be responsible in college also helps with you finding themselves. College should be “the beginning of knowing yourself, knowing that you can manage yourself if you want” (D’Amboise 404). If an individual is not responsible then they are more than likely not going

Why else go to college if you are not going to get educated. Education is something that individuals are going to be needed throughout the rest of their life. Thing that teachers are not really teaching their students, as Jacques D’Amboise described in “Showing What Is Possible”, “not teaching them the civilizing things we have taken millions of years to develop” (D’Amboise 405). We are not really educating them for the future and in college they should learn that. They need to be well rounded. Instead of just focusing on what they intended to major, they should take other classes so that they know more and have a more well rounded education. The problem in college people face is that in high school they are not really pushed to do anything. In high school people have learning disabilities, they go off and are supposed to get extra help to learn the material but they don’t. They just pass without “seeing any real improvement in the student 's performance” (Garibaldi 539). In college, they should change that and get the help needed to become successful in the …show more content…
They should be confident in what they do and what their place is in society. They need to know that they are worth something and that their college years were not a waste of time. Especially for boys, they need to know in college and in life they are important and they do have value and not just space. Nowadays in high schools boys, are not really appreciated anymore. Schools are starting to tend to the female group as Gerry Garibaldi discussed in “How the Schools Shortchange Boys”, “boys have become increasingly disengaged” (536), because schools focus more on the girls. In college, its not the same and they need to learn that they are just as important as the girls are. Learning value in college, people will feel more important in whatever they do
College can’t teach us everything’s. For example college can’t give us the job experience, only give us the education of the knowledge, and I believe their all lot thing need to be learn in the society. Many people who get a college degree but can’t find a job, which mean they waste there youth and their parent’s money to support their child go to college, and even can’t find a job after a college
We have been taught all throughout our years of school that grades are important. True, grades are very important, but are they the only quality we should be focusing on as we enter college? Perhaps we should look past grades and focus on things such as the adaptation into the college life. Patrick Sullivan shares college education is more than just tests and intelligence. He also shares tips on how to prepare for this life-changing move into adulthood. In his article “Essential Habits of Mind for College Readiness”, Sullivan discusses specific qualities that are crucial in college years and beyond, such as curiosity, openness, creativity, accountability, humility, and character. I believe these qualities are what shape a college student, because
Some students would argue that a college education is not a vital aspect of the future of children because it is too much schooling, costs too much, and it is not needed for their future. First of all, these students have struggled through 13 years of school whether elementary, middle, or high school. They have endured many long days and late nights to pass their classes. Although it is true that 4+ more years of school will be mentally tough and hard to endure, these important years will help shape
The number of college graduates, in the U.S., is much smaller than what it can be. Some high school students think that it may not be worth it to go to college. In addition, other students think that college is the obvious choice of education after high school. Many questions will be asked during a student’s high school experience. Is it worth it? Will it affect my ability to get the job I want? If I choose to go to college will I be able to get into the school I want? The country needs more college educated students/adults to increase the knowledge of the country.
The majority of people in today’s society, strongly believe that our generation is obligated to take on college education right after high school. It is common for a person who does not choose the college path to be considered “too dumb or too lazy” (Murray 253). Most students with their first choice being college after high school believe that it’s beneficial and will be very valuable for their future career choice but not all students have that same mindset. Many students are finding themselves into large amounts of debts, and go to college just for the hell of it, not realizing that they are not meant for brutal long classes that require serious thinking and learning skills. I do believe that education is generally very important, but not everyone is suitable for the amount of knowledge and skills college education
Going to college gives students the chance to step out of their comfort zone, try new things, and discover who they are while pursuing a degree that may, or may not, interest them. In today’s world if a student drops out of college society assumes they are unintelligent, while in reality they could have come to the realization that being amazing at a trade job is better than being mediocre at a desk job. There has to be a way for students to want to finish college and find what they are learning interesting. If something doesn’t change, the system of postsecondary education will become a thing of the
All of the experiences that college brings are designed to shape students as people to make them more proactive members of the modern society. In other words, college is where kids are made into men and women. In many ways it's also a trial by fire to see who has the right focus to make it through. These trials, scary as they may seem, all shape the graduates of today. Well the graduates anyways. “It forces you to grow up. It's just all about learning how to live on your own. I matured a ton and I still mature every day” (Paoli). College gives students the resources they need to survive in the modern world and so much
Preparing for College after graduating from high school is considered to be as one of the most thought by students. Even so, most students nowadays are uncertain whether attending college will be a good advantage for them. Some believe that it is a waste of time and money, but most people consider it as a reason to thrive in life. Unlike High school, College is certainly different because it determines your future and should be taken more earnestly by the students. College education is a worth of cost because it basically provides students with great benefits, which can be a good help in shaping their future goals.
When any adolescent enters High School they are still young and on the search to find themselves. High Schooler’s often make bad decisions, but quickly see that these mistakes there to be learning experiences rather than to dwell on them. Often, for many students, High School does not present an extreme amount of stress, rather it is a a place to learn more about yourself. Once college hits, stress is the only thing on the mind. College students are always worrying about if they did their homework, if they have a big test coming up, if they studied enough, and if they even have enough money to pay their bills. So the key to college is to know that the fundamentals of college are different than high school, be responsible and reliable to yourself, do all your homework, and most importantly be respectful to your peers and teachers
“Why should one go to college? One important answer to this question is more opportunity. As opposed to generations of the past, high school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high-paying jobs that were once available. The U.S. has been transformed from a manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education today can be compared to that of a high school education forty years ago. It serves as the gateway to better options and more opportunity”(College View). After high school, it is the standard for students to become matriculated. With most people under the impression that college is the only way to achieve a higher education people find themselves discouraged from taking the
In our society, a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather a necessity. The main reason people go to college is not because they want to, but because they have to. Guidance counselors and parents pressure most high school seniors to go to college because it is “the right thing to do.” Our society has it in our mind that if a person does not go to college they will not become successful. Exactly one year ago I was in high school, and being a senior was probably the most stressful year. Most seniors worried about filling out college applications and deciding what major to do. Inputting all your grades and knowing that you were not the best student is especially stressful. For most people, going to college seems
Students who graduate from Charles Darwin University are expected to have particular qualities that help to maintain citizenship within their future workplace. In the Forensic Science workplace social responsibility is a fundamental attribute needed for an employee to effectively communicate, work in a team and achieve optimum job performance. Qualities such as effective communication and teamwork will be displayed unconsciously if Forensic Scientists are able to work under socially responsible conditions. Corporate Social Responsibility is the most important attribute of a graduate employee looking to work in Forensic Science because it helps individuals align their work with helping their community. Although, without the aid of effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team, employees are left with work efficiency somewhat to be desired.
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
During high school, whether it is by a teacher, parent or classmate a student will be advised to go to college. “College is where you find yourself,” they will say. College is made to seem as the place where students will attain a brilliant education, thus making them feel as though once they are done with the schooling, a dependable job of high pay will appear for them. In our society, college is not a scarce option, but rather, an expectation. For many graduating high schoolers, college is the next step. Attaining a college degree is not necessary for creating a life for us as our civilization makes it out to be.
Secondly, the main thing is to be responsible and make the right decisions. In college you have to make decisions and it is hard. Peer pressure come in hard when you get to college, for example you could have a test that you need to study for and there is a party that you want to go to, and all of ...
