Global population is rising and it is a fact that people are living longer. According to the study conducted by United Nations, research found that there will be more than 10 billion people living on earth by the year 2100. It is also no secret that there is also Global Warming and Climate Change that the world is facing now. Population rise is maybe one of the greatest reasons why sustainable development is needed nowadays. (http://greenliving.lovetoknow.com/Why_Is_Sustainable_Development_Important) But what do we mean by sustainable development. To understand fully what sustainable development means, let us first defined sustainability. Sustainability means the state of being able to maintain or sustain itself. Now that we have defined what sustainability means, let us now fix the meaning of sustainable development. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. (https://www.iisd.org/sd/) To attain and achieve sustainable development, one of the things we need to do is to design. And that’s what we called sustainable design which defined as the intention to reduce and completely eliminate negative environmental …show more content…
Through central gas fired hydronic natural convector system, additional heating has been attained. This system provides and initiates lower energy consumption, indoor air quality and reduces chance of burns and risk of gas leaks in the units of the structure. The units of K2 apartment are naturally ventilated. Added to this, a centrally located internal fan and roof of level ventilators help to purge excess heat that was produced by extreme conditions.
The following case study critiques Upton’s vision to establish a sustainable community through implementing comprehensive sustainable strategy. The urban periphery development is thought to demonstrate superior execution of sustainable principles in development (Jackson 2007). As a parallel, the report focuses on the development of Upton’s design code and demonstrates how large -scale mix-use developments can incorporate sustainable practice and principles of urban growth.
... the sun isn’t as high up in the sky. Large open spaces and a covered loft promote stack ventilation which also further increase the comfort zone. A mud room/hallway doubles as an airlock during extreme temperature months. The addition of active systems suffices for the rest of the heating load. On the roof positioned is a solar hot water panel which has access to solar gain. A small tankless electric water heater boosts stored hot water temperatures when needed. The ultimate goal is to simply reduce energy use by half of what the average household uses. The equipment chosen is an Eemax Electric Tankless Hot Water Heater. A solar hot water panel mounted on the dormer heats water through glycol exchange. A tankless electric hot water heater 1) boosts the solarheated stored water if it is below desired temps and 2) provides back up water heating during cloudy periods.
Also if you want to control the temperature you will have to look for another source of heat. The modern gas sauna, heated by natural gas, is an option for those who want a cleaner burning sauna. You can also control the temperature of the sauna. You can also save money on your gas bill by installing an electric sauna. This is also a clean option and you can also control the temperature using the thermostat.
It’s The Kyocera of Art and The Museum of Fine ceramics on the first 2 floors but it’s the headquarter of the world’s largest solar generation and natural gas co generation system. There is solar panels hanging of the building on every floor of the 20 floor building which power’s 50% of the building. Its modern design is suppose to connect to the environment with the surround parks. What I like about this building is the design of the use of space of the solar on the building to maximize the space, especially in Japan with its very populated country. What I dislike about this building is there could be more solar planes that been built on to the building which could cover 100% of the power
Later then the green roof had a crossed the Europe in rural and agricultural supply. Green roof have been also found to make some improvements in a roof’s insulation. Advantages of considered, it has a documentation created that demonstrates the capability of green roofs on the decrease of the urban warmth all in all, exploration has been done to demonstrate that green roof can bring down surface and encompassing air temperature of just into specific area.
Sustainability is a concept with a diverse array of meanings and definitions – a widely used glamorous, ambiguous, ambivalent and vague concept that is used by different stakeholder groups in various ways. Presumably to avoid noodling over a terminology or to avoid the confrontation with a definition, most widely the concept is broken down a planning process (c.f. e.g. Döring & Muraca, 2010). That is why most common sustainability is understood as sustainable development.1
Well-recognized cities worldwide have built over the years great buildings with a variety of designs and concepts however consequently too much building has been making grievous decrease on energy efficiency. Now, “Green Architecture” has been popularized and as a result a modicum of energy efficiency has increased and also it has substantiated a new perspective, a new versatile way on architecture.
“Sustainable Development: At its heart, sustainable development is the simple idea of ensuring a good quality of life for everyone, now and for generations to come. It is about living within the carrying capacity of the environment so that how we live, work and enjoy leisure activities, which do not harm or put undue pressures on the environment. It is about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to have a decent education, a quality environment that they take pride in, good health and a decent job (n.p, 2014)”
Despite the fact that novel technologies are continuously under development to complement existing practices in coming up with greener buildings, the universal intent is that such structures are designed to diminish the general effect on the built environment on health of the humans in addition to the natural environment via: Diminishing environmental degradation, pollution and waste, improving productivity of the employee and guarding occupant health, efficient usage of water, energy, in addition to other resources.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines development as the act or process of growing or causing something to grow larger or more advanced. We live in a world that is continuously developing, in ways that we cannot even begin to try to describe. Nonetheless, The World Bank measures indicators of development. To do this, they look at three-hundred and thirty-one different indicators which cover a vast number of areas, including agriculture, aid effectiveness, climate change, economic policy, education, energy and mining, environment, the financial sector, poverty, science and technology, social development, and urban development. The World Bank’s World Development Indicators data is has been used for over fifty years as the standard by which development is measured. While this list may seem like a comprehensive, all-inclusive list, it does not consider the idea of sustainable development. While development for the sake of advancement may seem like a good option for an undeveloped country, it can be argued that development that is not sustainable is not development at all, but merely the illusion of one.
Sustainable development refers to not only meet the needs of contemporary people, but also not compromising the ability of future generations to meet development needs.Sustainable development and environmental protection have established contact, not the same. Environmental protection is an important aspect of sustainable development. The core of sustainable development is development, but requires strict control of the population, improve population quality and protect the environment for the conduct of economic and social development under the premise of sustainable use of resources.
In class we discussed what sustainable development meant to us; each group had its own definition. Our group’s definition was that sustainable development is for the long term for future generations, for the basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and job. The basic will increase over time and our resources will diminish, which why sustainable development is important. Sustainable development is important for future generations so that they end up with a world better than ours. Sustainable development is achievable if society works together to meet everyone’s basic needs and create a better world.
Sustainability development has three components: environment, society, and economy. If you consider the three to be overlapping circles of the same size, the area of overlap in the center is human well-being. As the environment, society, and economy become more aligned, the area of overlap increases, and so does human well-being. Therefore, education for sustainable development (ESD) is the use of education as a tool to achieve sustainability. Simply put, ESD is a way to make the world a safer, healthier, and more livable place for us and future generations (McKeown, 2002, pgs 7-9).
‘Development that meets the needs of the present with the ability for the future generation to meet their own needs.’ (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987) Sustainable development requires three key components: economy, society and environment, sustainable development can be success through striking balance in those factors. These three components are indispensible, they compel to depend on each other. On the other words, we can only gain a decent and energetic environment and society if the economy is strong with a healthy a stable growth rate.
We all know the urbanization rate is an index to value the development of a country. However, though urbanization provides great convenience to some individuals, it also brings about negative effects. Problems such as pollution, overcrowded and the high unemployment appear during the process of urbanization and they are hard to cope with. In face of the sequence of problems, a new way of development ----sustainable development was put forward. Just like its literal meaning, the word sustainability has something to do with continuity. It was used since 1980s and first appeared in Britain law in 1993. Sustainable development can help solve parts of the problem caused by urbanization, including environmental damage, overuse of resources, and natural disasters.
