This project’s goal was to discover which third-party web browser executes JavaScript code most efficiently. Companies and organizations that develop today’s web browsers are constantly making claims that they have the quickest browser. This project determined whether any of these statements have any truth in them.
All of the tests were performed on the same computer. This computer was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. It had a 2.1 gigahertz dual core processor and 4 gigabytes of random access memory. Every test was run with nothing else being done.
Tests were run on Mozilla Firefox 3.5.4, Google Chrome 3.0.192, Opera 10.01, and Safari for Windows 4.0.3. Out of these browsers Google Chrome got the best results with the most average runs per second. Other than Internet Explorer which failed to complete any of its trials, Opera’s tests showed the worst results by a fairly large amount.
Because of these results, it is recommended that people should use Google Chrome to get the quickest experience.
