Where is the Love?
Many people over the years have heard of the popular song “Where is the Love?” by the Black Eyed Peas. For this song, there were many songwriters including three of the group members, Will.I.Am, Taboo, Apl.De.Ap, and Justin Timberlake and Ron Fair. The Black Eyed Peas are known for being and American Hip Hop group, but in order to make this song successful and relatable to people who like different types of music, they had to change up their sound and add a little bit of pop influences. During an interview with MTV, Ron Fair stated that he told the group that essentially they would have to make a transition and venture out of their comfort zone if they wanted to make a hit. In order for the group to make this change and dive into the Pop world, they brought in artist, Justin Timberlake. The song writing process for “Where is the Love?” began in late 2001 was put on their third album, Elephunk, which was released during the middle of the year in 2003. As previously mentioned, the song “Where is the Love?” was in the works during the last couple of months in 2001. Anyone who knows their dates or those who have taken a history class know that the attacks on the Twin Towers happened September 1, 2001, so the writers of the song found some inspiration in something that was so tragic so that they could get a message across to people across the world.
The Black Eyed Peas were put together as a group in 1995 and it was not until 2003 that they started to gain a lot of recognition and credibility due their third album and their first popular hit, “Where is the Love?” Their newly released single, at the time, peaked at number eight in the United States and topped the charts in 13 other countries, including the United ...

... what they want them to. Like every other person, the media is also driven by greed and it is very easy to persuade people to believe lies rather than giving them the truth.
In the end, the song, “Where is the Love?” is about trying to find and spread love instead of hate. As a whole, we should try to look past the color of a person’s skin or their religious beliefs and try to focus on the good in the world and eliminate some negativity. Also, money and greed should not be our only motivation in life because in the long run materialistic items will not make a person have a happy life.
