WEBIOGRAPHY

When I registered for this class, I knew it was going to be an interesting class but I did not know what to expect as to the writing assignment. Ancient history is something I never taught I will be interested in until I started watching the history channel, although it is a prerequisite for a degree course I have always had interest in knowing more about this course and one thing I noticed from watching the history channel is, it has connection with the bible. For this assignment, am going to be writing about; the Egyptian pyramid, the Greece gods and the River Nile. I picked these three topics because it goes back to ancient history and will be a perfect match for this course (HIST 134).

The Egyptian Pyramid

“A pyramid is a monumental structure with a square or triangular base and sloping sides that meet in a point at the top, esp. one built of stone as a royal tomb in ancient Egypt.” (Online dictionary.com) According to research, it was found that, Egypt has 138 pyramids as of 2008. These pyramids were built years ago, back in the days of Pharaoh and it was built at the west bank of the Nile. It took up to 100.000 years for the construction of the pyramids to be completed. Egypt is known for its great pyramids one of them being the great pyramid of Giza, which has the largest pyramid of all and it’s located at the northern part of the Giza plateau and it is one of the seven great wonders in the ancient world. The three largest pyramids are; the pyramid of menkaure, the pyramid of Khafre, the pyramid of Khufu. These pyramids are known to be the largest pyramid in the world. The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid shaped structures, located in Egypt. Research explains that the shaped of the pyramids re...

I looked up www.utdallas.edu/geosciences/remsens/nile/ for information and articles about the Nile River. I thought the site was very informative and accurate, giving importance of the river to both the Egyptians and also played a great part in the African history and ancient world history.

In conclusion, I picked the above topics because it goes way back to the beginning and ancient days, and since this class is all about knowing what happened in the past (ancient) I thought the topics will be very suitable for this class.
