A digital portfolio can show a potential employer a number of things that a paper portfolio or resume cannot portray. Whether it provides an employer a detailed look into a candidate for hire or gives parents and teachers some valuable insight on the student’s college education to be able to discuss and help them in making decisions in their college experience. Also on the education note, teacher portfolios are being used prominently in colleges and universities. E Portfolios are used by professionals and employers to gauge whether a person is eligible for hire. The lower end of the portfolio spectrum would, in my opinion, be Facebook or Twitter, where people develop a more personal portfolio and can show their own story.
A student portfolio is a purposeful collection of the work that tells the story of a student's personal self and achievements. The student’s portfolio is there to demonstrate the learning experiences of the student. It is available to parents and teachers who are able to evaluate and share the student’s experience and performance, not just see the gra...
The third and final media text I chose to create for my portfolio is a concept map. This is because it will allow me to draw out all the connections and characteristics of characters throughout the text and help me prove my thesis statement. Using a concept will help me as well as the reader to easily identify all the ideas within the map.
Although a personal statement is supposed to be mine, in the back of my head, I was thinking that an admission officer would look at this sheet of paper I had written and base my admission on it. Then I felt that although this was supposed to be my story, it was not really what I wanted to say because the purpose was to please someone else. At a certain point, all creativity was gone and my only goal was to have a perfect personal statement. The need to have a perfect personal statement did not allow me to write an essay that was truly me. I already had my mind set that I was going to write what I thought the reader wanted to hear instead of what I truly wanted. I decided, however, that although the two questions of “Is it good?” and “Does this suck?” Barry presents would haunt me for the rest of my life, if my personal statement was not truly me, then I was getting into schools for the wrong reasons. It was surprising how, for so long, I struggled writing this life-altering essay and when I just let it go, and started writing without worrying about perfectionism, I “…was both there and not there… and the lines made a picture and the picture made a story” (124). I was able to write an essay that mattered to me as opposed to something that was a misguided version of myself.
Summary reports are a way of replacing report cards as a way of showing parents and administrators the progress students have made. The purpose of summary reports is to really compile and breakdown both the portfolio and the checklists. The summary reports really give the parents an easily understandable version of what they are looking at in their child’s work sampling file. These reports are done at least three times a year. The reports normally include a narrative and rating scales. These reports are also a way for teachers to examine themselves and see how far their students have come, it also teaches them to watch children more closely, and that observations are the biggest and most important part of the work sampling
...lf-evaluations, accomplishments, and experiences. Teachers can include descriptions and comments about the student’s learning style, attitude, effort, and growth. Student portfolios can include samples of written work, collaborative projects, list of books read, performance documentation, running records of oral readings, or audio- and videotaped presentations.
Many are the characteristics of a student and undoubtedly being a student is a hard journey full of ups and downs and delights and worries. It is the beginning of the future; the future that one day will reveal the fruit of years of work and efforts of being a student. In which at the end of the student journey the future awaits.
...ember skill. Furthermore in one of portfolios for English III Honors, we had to give advice to the incoming freshmen (8th graders) I had to give them advice on what to be expect when coming what not to do and how to survive. I also had to regulate to them and give them rules so they do not mess up freshman year and that showed a lot of discipline, and honesty because I had to be honest with them.
Looking for a job in today’s society is very different compared to a decade ago. When using social media, you would have much more success finding the right match. A lot of people are not sure where to start when using social media, this list will introduce you to how each major social media outlet can help build your personal brand online. “According to a 2016 survey by CareerBuilder, 59 percent of hiring managers use search engines to research job candidates. If you have no presence online, you will be perceived as being out of touch” (Darchini, 2016).
Throughout the many trials and tribulations of the adolescent years teenagers try to find many different ways to express themselves and discover who they are. There are different forms of expression including music, art, fashion, and, of course, writing. Whether it is through a personal journal used to express private feelings, or through the high school publications such as the school newspaper or yearbook. These forms of expression give teens an outlet for creativity and a sense of accomplishment. They also teach time management skills such as meeting deadlines, and help develop a work-based environment with other. While these publications remain important to students, school authorities continually challenge them.
Every fall high school seniors around the globe are in a state of panic. Of course you are no stranger to this process, you have dealt with this stress firsthand. What process is being described you may ask? The process of applying to college. Each year seniors scramble to submit applications, transcripts, and letters of recommendations to the schools of their choice. These documents are essential for nearly all students who want to advance to an institution of higher learning, but for many the paper trail does not end there. Seniors interested in a career in art, well specifically in visual art, need one more thing to obtain that sparkling acceptance letter. That missing link is a portfolio.

Finding and locating your digital footprint makes you realize a lot of the information that is actually out there about you. Many people can tell before doing research some of their digital footprint based off the websites that they visit, but some find out information and things that they would never think of. I think that it is a good thing for everyone to do research on themselves to be aware of their information that everyone else can see. It is also important for a person to figure out their digital footprint because they could make it out to be better for the future. Locating it first is the most important part.
There are a number of definitions in the literature to describe the strategy of portfolio assessment. Brady and Kennedy (2009) describe portfolio assessment as a collection of work samples or products collected over time to demonstrate student progress in learning and achievement of outcomes. This is the most succinct and ideal definition as the idea of assessment is to not only assess the final products of learning but to also assess the process a student takes to achieve that final product. Portfolios in general provide evidence of a how a student thinks, questions, analyses, synthesises, produces and creates (Borich & Tombari, 2004). Grace (2002) emphasises that they keep track of a student’s success rather than their failures. This naturally allows you to determine what their learning n...
I had started a resume from this site, about a year ago and had it reviewed. However, I went back through and looked at the various categories and updated based on what I have learned over the past year and ensuring that my resume stood out from others. I learned that the look and feel of your resume can be matched to the style of the company and by utilizing some of the other resources available on this site, such as looking at the resume tips and action verb tool list I was able to enhance my resume. I was able to add in key words which increase the chance of my resume to be selected via the key word search/electronic system. I was able to add in some additional information pertaining to experience, history, and accomplishments, as these sections can be the most important section on your resume (CSU- Global, 2017). In addition, the resume builder was very informative and provided various formats to review and sample sections to include on my resume. I found the resume builder very helpful and felt I made some good changes on my resume based off the information I read on the site or from the examples I reviewed. In addition, I learned what aspects should be listed on your cover letter, which would also help me stand out as a stronger
There is a bulletin board on which the teachers have displayed all students written work. Displaying students work on a bulletin board sends message that the teachers value student’s work. Displaying student’s work encourages students to learn. It tells them that its ok to be messy and that the mistakes are part of learning. Along on the bulletin board, students’ names are displayed on the classroom door and on other work is displayed on the classroom’ closet doors.
Social network profiles are the most essential tool to judge job applicants because it reflects a good image of the job applicants. For example, if the company is recruiting a writer, it would be better to choose a person who has a blog web page in a blogging website such as Word-Press that shows and reflects his/her ability in writing. In addition to that, a Human Resources manager can check this person’s Facebook and Twitter in order to see his/her grammar and writing skills. This information provides accurate and complete picture about the candidate. (Fish & Lee, n.d). Moreover, social network profiles can prove the application as it shows applicant’s participation in many fields. For instance, when a recruiter enters person’s blog that includes art and design work, it will show his/her passion to work as a designer in the company. Therefore, it is important to judge applicants based on their social media profiles because it shows a good image of the person.
