When looking at nature and all of the different plants and animals, we see that every living and non-living thing is different and serves a certain purpose. God uses every living and non-living thing and gives it a certain talent or job to do while on Earth. God uses His creations, no matter how big or small, because every living and non-living thing makes an impact on this world. No two learners are the same, and that’s ok because that is exactly how God intended it to be. Working at Godfrey-Lee Early Childhood Center, I witnessed God’s plan in creating each and every student differently. After working in my second grade classroom, I learned to not “judge a book by its cover.” For example, when I first met my learner, I just assumed that she had behavioral issues until I learned that she suffered from ADHD. This course helped me to look past the label and analyze what other factors could play a role in how the student behaves, works and interacts with others. Looking at Calvin’s statement of commitment to professionalism, I focused on commitment two which states, “Candidates celebrate diversity among their students as part of God’s plan for creation.” 1 Corinthians 12:15-19 says, “If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be?” God’s diversity in ...

...are capable of. Throughout this course, I learned that focusing on a student’s neurodevelopmental framework not only helps to define who the student really is, but it also helps determine what the student is capable of.
Not only does God give each and every one of us specific talents, but He also gives us opportunities to share our talents and work together. Students do not learn on their own; they learn from others, experiences, and mistakes. “Learning occurs through social interactions with others or with tools,” allowing each student to share their talents with other (Sevensma 2016). If God didn’t intend for all of us to share our talents with each other, then He would have just created one perfect person. Instead He created each and every one of us differently with different talents, experiences, and stories so that we could all become one unit for His kingdom.
