Each child that passes through your classroom is a special gift. Every student is unique in different ways; whether it is a difference in learning, home life, or disabilities/abilities every child has the right to go to school and learn. It is our job as teachers to know and understand what each student needs in order to be successful.The more you learn about where your students come from, the easier your job will become. I knew I would get a wide range of answers and views on school. First, I wanted to discuss school in general. What were their feelings about school? Did they look forward to getting up in the morning and coming to school? In the back of my mind I thought I knew the answer, but I was completely wrong. Gunner loves coming to school. He explained that he actually likes school now that he can read! “Reading is awesome!” Gunner explained,”I come to school and read all the books the the library.” When I asked Hannah about school, I got the answer I expected. Hannah explained that she loved school, but only when she does good. Andrew’s answer was shocking. Andrew loves coming to school. When I asked Andrew what he liked about coming to school, his response was simple,”It makes me happy!” According to Goretti Horgan (2012), ninety percent of children living in poverty do not like school. They often get bullied because of their appearance and find it hard to make friends. I am happy to know that Andrew is not in that ninety percent. He loves school and no that he feels more confident knowing that he can come to school and take showers, he finds it easier to make
