As I interviewed Ms. Kimyetta Green the director/teacher at Lee’s Cuddles ‘N’ Care I had to ask some background question first. I asked Ms. Green how long has she being working for the center and she stated, “I have been here over 10 years”. Then I asked her, “What made you decide to go into early childhood education”? She stated, “I love teaching the children and I have always had a passion for teaching the children”. I can relate to Ms. Kim because I feel the same way. I have always had a passion to work with children to teach them everything they need to know so they can transition over into kindergarten with no problems.
Now as I get to the interview question I ask Ms. Kim “What makes a good teacher” and she stated, “A good teacher helps a child to learn, develop, and grow in every aspect of their lives. They have to be dedicated to their job and make sure they are given the child their undivided attention when needed”. Then she continued on to say, “Good teachers will redirect the child from a negative situation to a positive situation, give out extra hugs when the child need one, focus on the child’s academic achievements, and encourage the child to be successful”. I thought these were some amazing answers but we continued on with the interview. The next question asked Ms. Green was “What curriculum is used for each of the content areas you teach”? Ms. Green stated, “At Lee’s Cuddles ‘N’ Care we use the curriculum of teacher strategy gold which it is called creative curriculum. This assess the child’s growth and development in literacy, mathematics, social-emotional, and much more. ...ding. I say this because the teacher has the power to help motivate that child to read by engaging with the children during read-aloud and ask them open-ended questions this will expand the children vocabulary and they learn new words.
As I was coming to a close in the interview I did thank Ms. Green for her time and I asked her is there anything she would recommend for me and she said, “You are a good teacher and I have watched you as a teacher and you are doing a good job with the children. You use the creative curriculum and you follow all the objectives and dimensions for teacher strategy gold. You assess the children when needed and you look for the indicators on teacher strategy gold. I will add that you need to be more firm with the children so the children will know you are a serious teacher”. I thanked her for the feedback and thank her again for her time.
In the essay titled “How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading” written by John Holt and published in Reading for writers in 2013, Mr. Holt discusses why most children aren’t interested in reading. Mr. Holt spent fourteen years as an elementary school teacher. He believed classroom activities destroy a student’s learning ability. Many individuals, teachers or not, only do what they are asked or expected to do. However, going above and beyond and being able to have greater influence on a child’s life is my goal. I know I will love my job and in this position, children and families will be going through difficult and not normative life events. It is essential to extend further assistance to make each individual feel important. In the Lawrence family, they are a married couple, which means more income for the family. Whereas the Ashley family has one income. Ask any student about a favorite teacher and listen intently as he or she describes that person with a smile. Ask a parent of a child who will enter first grade in the fall about the teacher choice for their child. The parent would describe the outstanding educator in their desire for that special teacher. For the lead teacher interview assignment, I had the opportunity to sit down with and interview my son’s EC teacher from last year, Mrs. Hamm. Since my son started at the school last year, Mrs. Hamm has helped him in so many different ways. Mrs. Hamm has been teaching for over 20 years from her home state of Pennsylvania and more currently at Mount Energy Elementary School in Creedmoor, NC. Mrs. Hamm has been teaching at Mount Energy Elementary School in Creedmoor, NC for the last 12 years and recently awarded “Teacher of the Year”. Mrs. Hamm, up until this school year, was the main EC teacher for all grades Kindergarten through fifth grade at Mount Energy Elementary School. As of the present school year, the school district made the determination that she was over the acceptable number of students. As a result, they decided to hire an additional EC teacher and assistant to teach grades 3-5th and Mrs. Hamm would teach grades K-2. Mrs. Hamm was the teacher of 18 students until this decision was made, now with grades K-2, she has 9 students in her class.
For my psychology interview assignment, I had the privilege of interviewing Elaine, who is the Director of Preschool X, which is an educational institution. She reports that she has been in this position for 13 years since its inception. Elaine is a close friend of my aunt, which was how I was able to meet her. She explained that her responsibilities include; the hiring of all personnel related to the school, submission of criminal background checks, the medical reports for all staff and children must be current, and also developed a curriculum for the teachers to execute. She has parent meetings and she deals with parents on a daily basis. For any arising issues, Elaine conferences with parents at least once or twice a week. Have weekly staff meetings regarding the curriculum. She also plays the role as the educational event coordinator, where she would “invite people from the dinosaur museum or alley pond park to come over to her preschool, to enrich the children”.
From the perspective I have at this stage in my journey in the early childhood education field, I would like to share what I have come to value and believe in regards to early learning and care by looking at my philosophy statement. To begin we will look at the statement and highlight three key features and find out why they are important to me, then we will see what they will look like in my practice, and lastly we will examine these ideas closely by looking at where they originated. By taking an in-depth look at my philosophy statement we will better understand the motivation behind my practice which I hope to continue to refine and refresh as I gain more knowledge and experience.
Introduction In this paper, I will discuss the benefits of interactive read alouds by teachers for upper elementary aged students, and why it may help build comprehension. I will also examine what makes interactive read alouds effective such as book selection, thinking aloud, and developing vocabulary. Benefits of Read Alouds It was often thought that children in upper elementary can benefit from interactive read alouds. An interactive read aloud is a selected developmentally appropriate book that is read to students by a teacher for engaging all learners.
As a teacher, you need to encourage all attempts at reading, writing, speaking, and allowing children to experience the different functions and use of literacy activity (The Access Center, n.d.). Moreover, it is crucial for educators to understand phonological awareness and phonics; know what constitutes good children’s literature and how to use it; know children who need additional assistance with beginning reading and writing (Cunningham et al, 2004 as cited in McLachlan et al, 2013, p. 112). As I reflect on how my work in early childhood education has affected my values and morality, I can truly say I see things in a different light. Until now, I did not realize that there was a comittee that established codes, ideals, and principles that all early childhood educators had to follow. Even though I don’t work in a school or center, I feel my small childcare business has changed since I began my school in this field. I have always taken in consideration the feeling of the children and families I provide care for. Establishing an open communication has been a very important part of my business.

There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined.However i`ve always considered several of them essential.In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying,doesn`t underestimate the children,has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
Every teacher has their strong points as well as weak points. Teaching is very hard work and some of them never grow to be anything better than mediocre. They do the bare minimum and very little over and above the call of duty. There are several ways to become a great teacher. Teachers are truly dedicated workers who put a lot of time and schooling into being able to teach for the rest of their lives.
As you enter the red bricked school building on the first day, you do not know who your teacher will be. It could be a tall, old, young or nasty woman or man. But you always try to make yourselves presentable, since the first impression is always the last. Some students come, sit with their heads down, and speak nothing for the period. Others just disperse in the back posting pictures on instagram of their first day of school. However the not so ordinary student introduces themselves, tells the class what they did over the summer, and starts asking teacher questions even before the teacher has taught the lesson. They stand out from the rest. By the end of the day, the teacher has already figured out who the “perfect student” is.
