How would you answer this question; how important is the Earth to you? Coming from a perspective as an environmental science major and a dream to save the world and give all the terrestrial, aviary, and marine life a second chance, the Earth is truly important and is our home. Not the artificial house you drive to and live in but the actual place you reside; the Earth. Once you lose feelings and become careless, dreadful consequences will take place. Look at global warming today as well as the deforestation and the massive extinction going on now where about 200-2000 species will be going extinct each year. As seen in All Quiet on the Western Front, the teacher tells the boys to become the “Iron Fists of Germany” and to make them worthy, fight for their fathers land, and that everything must be thrown away for this “field of honor.” This can be seen in many different reads. In To Lucasta, Going to the Wars, it’s a son telling his mom that he has grown up and decided to go to war. That he will now chase after war as if it were a beautiful ‘mistress’ and that he “could not love thee (Dear) so much, Lov’d I not honour more.” It is all a brainwashing method that has been acquired by these teachers and recruiters.
