What is Crohn’s Disease – Aimee Rouski Inspired Published on June 5, 2016 in Health What is Crohn 's Disease? After seeing the recent post by Aimee Rouski on facebook. I became curious about Crohn 's Disease. I had little to no knowledge of the disease, and had heard little about it. In this article I will share my research into Symptoms of Chrons, Chrons Diet, and Medicine for Crohns. When searching the internet for information about Crohn 's Disease, I realized that there were many different terms that people used when they wanted to know about Crohn 's Disease. What is Crohn 's Disease? The following terms are all related to this question. Crohn 's disease definition, what is crohn 's? what is crohns disease? what is chrons disease? crones definition, what is chrones disease? what is chrons? what is crones disease? what is chrones? what is crones? what is chromes disease? what are crones? what is chrohns disease? about crohn 's disease, define crohns disease, whats crohns disease? As you can see there are a few common mispellings of Crohn 's Disease. The definition of Crohn 's Disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, especially the colon and ileum (the 3rd portion of the small intestine, between the jejunum and the cecum), associated with ulcers and fistulae (an abnormal or surgically made passage between a hollow or tubular organ and the body surface, or between two hollow or tubular organs). In layman terms the definition of Crohn 's Disease is best explained as The body 's immune system tries to cure the digestive tract, but the digestive tract does not really need curing because it is not sick. The tissue of the digestive tract then becomes inflamed. The inflammation starts to eat away at the lining o... ... middle of paper ... .... MAP has been known for a long time to be responsible for the symptoms of Crohn 's disease in cows, sheep and goats. But this is the first attempt to find a crohn 's disease cure for humans using anti-MAP. A blood test is used to identify the DNA of the MAP, allowing doctors to quickly diagnose or rule out Crohn 's Disease. Anti-MAP therapy consists of 3 antibiotics known to kill the MAP bacteria. Hopefully this information has given you a little more insight into What is Crohn 's Disease. I would also like to say that Aimee Rouski has taken a huge step in not only spreading the word about the disease, but also has placed herself in a great position to continue to be an ambassador to continue spreading the word. Good Luck in using this platform to educate people, and assist others that are afflicted with Crohn 's, to have the courage to not feel the need to hide it.

“Crohn’s disease appears to be caused by a dysfunctional inflammatory response in the gastrointestinal tract” (U. S. News, 2009). Inflammation is the body’s natural way to heal by sending immune cells to the site of the injury or invader. Researchers think that this immune system response may be triggered by bacteria or viruses, material in the intestinal contents, or a defective signal from the body’s own cells, called an autoimmune response. Inflammation results in pain, heat, redness, and swelling of the tissue. Chronic inflammation can harm the function of tissues and organs (U.S. News, 2009).

The prion diseases that Chronic Wasting Disease is related to are Creutzfeldt-Jakobs disease found in humans, bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in cattle, and scrapies in sheep (3,4). These diseases are grouped together because they share certain characteristics such as long incubation periods, spongiform changes that are associated with neural loss, and cause failure to induce inflammatory responses (Chronic Wasting Disease Alliance).

Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are both in a category of diseases called Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. This is a classification of disease in which inflammation forms in a part of the digestive tract, known as the gastrointestinal tract or GI tract, of the patient. The immune system then treats this area of inflammation as a foreign pathogen and attacks it. The causes of both of these diseases are currently unknown to the medical world.

Ulcerative colitis, or UC, is a chronic gastrointestinal disease that causes inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine. It causes ulcers in the colon and rectum. Ulcerative colitis is one of two forms of inflammatory bowel disease. In UC, the inflammation from the ulcers breaks down the lining of the colon and causes bleeding and discomfort in the abdomen.
One of the most common mysteries in the world is the development of autoimmune diseases. An autoimmune disease is when the immune system, which usually keeps your body healthy thinks that your healthy cells are antigens and attacks them. This is irony right? It is against properties of evolution for an immune system to attack itself causing sickness and possibly death if untreated. There are about 80 different types of autoimmune diseases, which usually have periods of little to no symptoms and worsening symptoms. What particularly creates confusion in the world is the autoimmune disease, inflammatory bowel disease, which affects almost about five million people worldwide.
