I had no idea how helpful the library is in facilitating learning before we discussed it in First Year Seminar. The tour of the library was extremely unique, and it was a great supplement to the experience. The Writing Center sounds incredible due to the fact that students will answer questions that other students have in regards to their papers. The idea of students offering guidance to other pupils is great, and it’s made even better due to the ease in locating this center (to the left of the library’s entrance and under the sign called, “Writing Center”). In addition, I’ve been able to utilize the Math Center space in the library when I was meeting up with my study group for calculus homework. It was a nice, quiet space for me to discuss math concepts with my classmates. The tour of the library was very helpful to me, since I was taught and shown the locations of both the Math and Writing Centers.

I would tell the student to take advantage of the large amount of resources present at this school, such as unlimited printing, free professional tutoring, and office hours with professors, which are easy to attend due to the fact that Utica College is a small school. I would also let her or him know that the librarians are approachable, so asking questions is easy, and that the library is a tremendously useful place to complete work with others. Lastly, I would recommend to the student to work hard by reviewing notes, and by attending as many classes as possible, but not at the expense of her or his own health. I’ve learned many things from this course that should be passed on to younger students attending Utica College so they, too, will be able to achieve in their classes, as well as in their personal lives.
