Coming in to this semester I knew I was going to be taking the foundations of education course but I didn’t know what to expect. After 14 weeks of discussing, learning, and exploring I realized that my passion for teaching has been solidified. I realized the reality and the responsibility that comes with becoming a teacher and I am up for the challenge. We have the power as future teachers to influence our student’s lives in so many ways. We learned that a teacher must carry themselves as the professionals that they are. At the end of this course there are questions that I asked myself that I would of answered completely different in the first week of this course.
One question that we are faced is what does quality teaching look like. The way in which a teacher approaches the classroom is very important to look at. It is known to us that the most important factor in the school setting is the teacher. (PowerPoint professional) A teacher must be able to use the different educational philosophes that we learned during the duration of this semester. They can have students to learn by doing. This is a pragmatism approach to things. Or they can incorporate behaviorism to their classroom. Quality teachers put out high expectations for students of all backgrounds. They must be very organized and prepared and most importantly they must know the material they are teaching. A teacher should involve students and give them the chance to get out of their seat. Teachers must create lessons for different students because all students work on a different pace. Some students might get a certain lesson better then the other and they shouldn’t have to stay working when they have already mastered it. Teacher should be able to provide all the answer...

...hey should be taught in a different approach to make sure they are receiving the knowledge provided to their other classmates.
Over the course of these 14 weeks I would have probably answered these questions differently. I didn’t know the importance of the teacher and the responsibility we hold. I would have probably put all the responsibility on the student and say if the student wants to learn it is there responsibility. That is the wrong way to look at things and I am happy I took this class with Dr. Artis to understand how much power a teacher has. I learned that we may not be able to change the world as a teacher but we have the ability to change the lives of our students for many years to come. I hope to build on the knowledge I received in this class with my future education courses and become a teacher who can make great changes in the lives of my student!
students do not learn the same way as their peers. We have to modify and try to explain things to
After reading this article, I think I gain a lot of valuable information and advices. This article makes me realize being a teacher is not that easy and it requires a lot of efforts, and dedication. Teachers also need to deal with a lot of difficult situations. As a future teacher, I think I still have a lot to
After taking time to reflect on everything have learned throughout this class and the rest of my courses, it seems as though I have learned a lot and have developed many skills that will allow me to progress as a teacher. This class allowed me to gain a better understanding of education laws, as well as what brought these laws about. Additionally, this class also shined light on many aspects of working with special needs students that I was not aware of before.
I realized that what you’re teaching is not always the most important part of your classroom. The environment you provide for your students can make or break your classroom. Every single thing you do as a teacher has an impact on your students from asking about their home life to telling them if they don’t pass a test they will fail. Also, I learned that your strategies and the environment you provide go hand and hand. Students will not be able to learn without both working
I spent the whole night reading about the differences teachers make on student’s lives and how their hard work pays off in the eyes and minds of their students. The more I divulged in the books, the more I pictured myself leading the future of our community. From that day on, I was determined that teaching was going to be how I was going to spend the rest of life. I never knew that all I needed was for someone to see something in me as a student to affect my whole future and how I can possibly have that effect on future generations.
It is hard to believe that the semester is almost over already. The time has really flown by because it feels like we just started a few weeks ago. This is because of how interesting this class was. The format that this class took was nice being able to interact with the other students through discussions rather that the form I am used to of just doing my assignment and never getting to know the other people in my class. It was nice to be able to see other people’s opinions and how they took in the lesson for that week. It was this interaction that helped to drive home may of the lesson this I had trouble understanding and reinforced my understanding for those I do. There are many different lessons that were explored throughout the semester
It’s funny how quickly time flies by it seems like just yesterday I was complaining about writing the first part of this assignment. Looking back at it now, the reasons why I want to become a teacher remain the same. I want to inspire, shape, encourage, and mentor my students. I want to make the kind of impact on each and every single one of them that they will carry on for the rest of their lives. Whether it be simply believing in them, and telling them that I know they are capable of accomplishing anything they want to, or helping them through a tough time. My desire to become a teacher has increased tremendously the past 16 weeks, and I am so eager and excited to finish my education to begin my teaching career.
While I had many successes, I almost experienced many challenges and what I like to call “teacher-learning-moments.” My first lesson was very rough around the edges. Stepping straight out of the college atmosphere, I prepared a very analytical lesson for the students. I expected the junior high-aged teenagers to be prepared to pick out main ideas from
In public schools there are many situations that the system is put under. Both the schools and the teachers face a lot of challenges in ensuring that students fulfill their educational potential. Many things in school and out of school hender the student from doing their best work in the classroom. Today the provision of quality education is hampered by both educational and non educational challenges, which have made it difficult for the provision of quality education.
Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined. However i`ve always considered several of them essential. In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying, doesn`t underestimate the children, has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
One good quality a teacher should have is, respect for the students. Each person’s ideas and opinions should be valued and not judged. They should be able to express themselves without feeling insecure. Another good quality is, having high expectations for your students. Each student should be encouraged to do their best and achieve goals that they may have never met before. Another good quality is, I believe a teacher should have is good communication skills. They should keep not only the students informed on what is going on in the class, they should definitely keep the parents informed as well. Teachers need to know how to communicate with all their students because some are at different levels than others.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
Coming into this class, I figured we would learn about how to handle different kinds of situations from a teacher’s standpoint. As it turns out, the class is much more than just that. I figured there would be group discussions consisting of some controversial issues, but I had no idea how the course would make me feel as a person and as a future educator. So far, this class has brought to light the incredibly difficult decisions I will have to make as a teacher. Not only will those decisions affect the child and parents of that child at hand, but myself as well.
Another remarkable quality that a teacher can have is connecting with his/her students on a personal level, and with their individual learning styles so that he/she can better understand and help the student succeed. So qualities of an
