When talking about gender inequality there are a few terms everyone should know. First, what is a feminist? A feminist believes in the social, political, and economic equality of all the sexes, not just one. Second, what does gender inequality mean? Since China has the one child policy, when families would have a girl, the baby would sometimes be abandoned, murdered, or left at an orphanage because having a girl was a burden since they cannot carry on the family name. Recently China has made changes to the law stating, if a family has a girl, families can try again for a boy. Basically, they are disregarding the one child policy so baby girls are not doomed from the moment they enter the world. This was a big step in the right direction, but we still have far to go to get complete equality.
