What Can Have an Impact on Long Term Health?
Who wants to live longer? Everyone. Everyone wants to live as long as possible. An important
part to a longer life is staying healthy. There are many benefits to improving the way a person
lives so that they can have a healthier and longer life. Being healthy controls the way our body
functions and also how long we will live. People want to stay healthy to enjoy life to the fullest.
Healthy lifestyle choices such as: healthy nutrition, tobacco use prevention, oral care, vision
care, and staying socially active, can have a major impact on long term health.
A healthy diet is the foundation for a well-functioning body. There are a variety of
reasons why a healthy diet is important, including maintaining a healthy weight, disease
prevention, and quality of life. A healthy diet should include a variety of foods from the major
food groups: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and lean protein including
beans, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. A healthy balanced diet provides nutrients to your body to
keep your heart beating, your brain active, and your muscles working. Nutrients help build
strong bones and muscles. Eating foods high in calcium and vitamin D can help slow the process
of bone loss and osteoporosis later in life (“Centers for Disease Control and Prevention”). Good
nutrition can lower your risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol,
high blood pressure, cancer, and heart disease. Healthy eating will help with achieving and
maintaining a healthy weight. Diet is an important contributor to longevity and healthy living. It Keaton 2

care, and staying socially active will lead to a healthy life. It is very hard and sometimes
impossible to rebuild health, so it is important to make healthy choices early in life. Emphasis on
healthy lifestyle should start at a young age. Being healthy and living healthy will decrease the Keaton 7
chance of illness. Staying healthy can save on doctor’s bills. Being healthy can make a person
feel better about them. Sometimes people are their own worst enemy; their lives would be so
much easier if they led a healthy life to begin with. You don’t have to be an all-star athlete or eat
like a health nut to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The secret is to choose a healthy
pattern as part of your daily routine. After all, a healthy lifestyle is a way of life.
