WGU Jet Blue Case Study From 2004 to 2009, I lived in Atlanta, Ga while working for a large firm; I was able to travel all across the country and overseas. When I was younger I use to travel quite a bit with my family. These times in my life cannot be over looked as they gave me experiences in culture that cannot be learned from a book. When I use to travel, I hated the actual traveling aspect. Getting on planes were the worst. Most companies were the same. Really uncomfortable and no space for my legs loved getting the aisle seat for legs but the occasional cart crashing or running into my leg sucked. The one thing missing from most of my flights was the service and the way employees and customers were treated by the companies. Fast forward …show more content…
These factors are then combined and form a more well-rounded observation. This now creates a more valuable and complete appraisal. How JetBlue used the 3-6-0 degree appraisal system: JetBlue renamed it the 320 because of their new plane but they used the same none the less. It was used to regulate how reviews were done. It standardized services and made pilots all the way down to ground crews be more consistent. The system that JetBlue implemented was built by the culture and value of the company. These values are established because of the 320 degree plan. They stressed communication and customer experience. Because of the 320 degree appraisal system, management was able to get a grasp of the concerns of employees and have a greater understanding of employee performance. Determining Financial Compensation There are 4 main concerns when creating a compensation model • The first would be the rank of position and the responsibility of the job. Is the position a supervisorial role, or administrative role or maybe pilot? If so, how many people is this person managing and who are they responsible for. These questions can help define
False. Under typical circumstances, which is to say, if government regulators were not involved, we might expect for the industry to coalesce around one dominant competitor; however, as it is, there are anti-trust statutes preventing such a merger, and therefore it is likely there remain a few major competitors in the space who consume 80-90% of the market share with the remaining share going to a few minor competitors for whom the major players are legally required to provide network bandwidth. Also, there is some differentiation of product, e.g. CDMA vs GSM, that allows for the development of two networks within the market and increases switching costs for the customer, such that they are relatively sticky

It’s the day before Valentine’s Day, you are eagerly waiting to get home to your significant other so you can celebrate the day of love, and you load your flight and hit the runway to take off. However, you sit on the runway for six hours waiting only to find out that you cannot leave. This was the tragic realization for many passengers who choose to fly with JetBlue on February 13, 2008 (Hanna). On that day, only 17 of the 156 flights scheduled left the airport (Hanna). More and more flights were canceled over the course of a week, leading to 1,096 flights in all and more than 130,000 angry customers (Smith). Finally, on February 20th flights resumed as usual but as you can imagine there were a lot of unhappy customers to deal with (Hanna).
As part of marketing in business, strategy is a leading light because it is a plan of action designed and followed by businesses to become successful. Three companies in the same industry can offer similar products in a completely different ways. Branding is everything and understanding what customers want determines a company’s brand position. Airline companies are great examples of numerous companies offering the same product. Major differences in brand and quality management come when comparing three airline companies that offer the same product such as Spirit Airlines, Jet Blue and American Airlines. Although their product is the same, the processes to marketing their product are completely different.

Whether traveling for work, vacation, or even just leisure, Americans have always been on the move. Although, from Arthur C. Brooks article, “How to Get Americans Moving Again,” it is evident that times are changing. In “How to Get Americans Moving Again,” Brooks portrays an America that has had an immense percentage decrease in the amount of Americans that domestically move between states. The E190 CASM is approximately 12% higher than A320. The E190 RASM is 30% higher than A320. E190 also has significant lower acquisition costs compared to A320. This reduces the financial break-even point for the flight operation. Comparing to other regional jets, E190 also has 34% less fuel consumption and higher utilization (10-11 hours vs. 8 hours/day) while offering more seating capacity allowing Jet Blue to service wider range of destinations. Additionally, E190 and A320 both can be operated interchangeably during peak and off-peak hours depending upon the demand. Also, use of E190 to feed A320 customers improves utilization of existing airport facilities and reduced downtime for crew members. This synergy provided Jet Blue added flexibility and more efficient operation. These are some of the reasons why E190 makes it a more economical strategic choice as it is well aligned with the low cost element part of its business strategy and can continue to provide an advantage over its

JetBlue follows the differentiation generic strategy in their business. The differentiation strategy focuses on persuading consumers that a service or product is better than its competitors. JetBlue supported this strategy in many ways, providing more advantages for their consumers. They identified a huge strategic advantage over larger and older airlines because they realized that they could achieve tasks more efficiently

...d these needs. But the customer preference keeps changing and for example the customers might expect to have internet connection during the flight in order to finish their work related tasks. By having a customer study group constantly analyzing the customer needs and modifying the operating procedures to match with the needs, JetBlue can align itself to the external environment effectively. During the initial stages, all the employees were happy and identified themselves with the company culture since it was a nice challenge and fun to start from scratch and build a new airline during tough times. By effectively promoting team work and managing the employees in small teams, JetBlue can instill the small company thinking in the employees and continue to create a positive environment for the employees.
