The situation they are in can harm them in more ways than one. In this story the children don 't know what kindness is because they aren 't showed kindness by anyone until the grandpa realizes this towards the end of the story. In "Welding with Children" the grandparents have been stuck with their four grandkids that their daughters have brought over to their house. When he talks to the men that call his car the "bastardmobile" what he 's thinking about doing they are all down on him and just tell him that hell never stick to his word. Grandpa relized that he was going to prove them wrong and he showed up at church Sunday morning and listened to the service and then after church service he then decided it was time for a true change around his house and junk yard. Once he goes to church and he realizes things he goes home cleans up his yard and removes all the junk vehicles and things. After he removes all of these things he then replace some of the things with kids stuff like a tire swing. He decides he wants to paint the porch and change the way things look for the grandkids. He wants his grandkids to change and show them how to live the right way in life. In Welding with Children you can see that brokenness to kindness plays a role in this story when the grandpa decides he wants to change the brokenness of the family and show them what life is really about. Christianity comes into play as well when grandpa realizes that it 's time to set a good example for his grandkids because he knows the parents didn 't have that growing up
In all the above religious concepts, Grandpa has always contradicted his views with the organized religion of Cold Sassy. Grandpa’s reason for this contradiction is that Grandpa likes to hear about the loving, caring and forgiving God, instead of hearing about a threatening Lord from the preachers in his town. He also discloses to Miss Love that the only reason he went to church was to please his first wife, Miss Mattie Lou. This disclosure means that Grandpa did not ever agree with the traditional beliefs of his town.
For example, Ruth and Dennis faced a lot of hate and racism as an interaical couple in the 1940’s, when segregation was a dangerous line to cross. Ruth recalls, (3.) “Me and Dennis caused a riot on 105th Street once. A bunch of white men chased us up the street and surrounded Dennis and tried to kill him, throwing bottles and hitting and kicking him..,” demonstrating the severity and the danger of their situation. Yet, in this circumstances and any other time she was faced with adversity, Ruth found comfort in her religion. Despite the consequences, they eventually get married and start a family together. Even though she and Dennis were poor with a growing family, the more her life revolved around God, the happier and more content she was with her life. She says, (4.) “ After we had our first baby in 1943, we moved across the street to a one-room kitchenette that cost six dollars a week. We had a sink, bed, dresser, stove, and a little ice box that the guy came around and put ice in once a week, All of our furniture was stuff we found or we brought from Woolworth and could be fold… The bathroom was in the hallway and it was used by all the tenants and there were roaches everywhere. We had four kids in that one room. We used the dresser drawers as cribs and the kids slept was us on or on fold out cots. We lived in that one room for nine years, and those nine years were the happiest nine year of my life,” conveying that even though she lived a very simple lifestyle and did not have many material things, Ruth and her family were happy and loved each other
When the man and boy meet people on the road, the boy has sympathy for them, but his father is more concerned with keeping them both alive. The boy is able to get his father to show kindness to the strangers (McCarthy), however reluctantly the kindness is given. The boy’s main concern is to be a good guy. Being the good guy is one of the major reasons the boy has for continuing down the road with his father. He does not see there is much of a point to life if he is not helping other people. The boy wants to be sure he and his father help people and continue to carry the fire. The boy is the man’s strength and therefore courage, but the man does not know how the boy worries about him how the boy’s will to live depends so much on his

However many times the children were left to their own devices to manage their lives, the children always welcomed Rex and Rose Mary back into their open hearts. This can be explained in part by a hidden rule of poverty being that people are possessions. In Ruby Payne’s A Framework for Understanding Poverty, she explains, “In poverty people are possessions, and people can rely only on each other” (Payne, p. 23). The Walls children relied on their parents to hold the family together, if only in a physical sense. Jeanette and her siblings forgave their irresponsible parents repeatedly. This teaches an important message to readers: by forgiving others you free yourself of festering anger, bitterness, and judgments.

Now for an example of loving others, in the fiction story by Toni Cade Bambara called “My Man Bovanne,” giving purpose. In this story the main character, Miss Hazel is a good example of a woman. She is not always loved by her children. They are disrespectful to her at times. Her children in this story were also being disrespectful to the older blind man named Bovanne by ignoring him. She noticed and had been dancing with in a risqué way, trying to be loving towards him. The main character says, “I don’t answer because I know I’ll cry. Terrible thing to have your children talk to you like that.”(Bambara, 97) One of her children had said she was acting “like a bitch in heat.”(Bambara, 97) Instead her children’s comments stop her, she is not ashamed of her actions. She takes Bovanne home with her.
Welding is very important to society and the way we live. It is used for building the oil and gas pipeline. Also, it is used for making plane and auto parts. Most welding is done in aircraft plants and in custom fabrication shops. Other welding jobs are done on the pipeline all over America. Without welding, everyone would be without vehicles and any other form of transportation. Also, there would be no commercial buildings as welding is a major part of the foundation and structure. Our modern way of life would be completely different without welding.

When money becomes nothing but an illusion, Walter is forced to rethink his values and his family's future, realizing that there is more to living that possessing material riches.

I believe that the author has written a book that has many universal truths that can be applied to anyone’s life and they have the ability to bring healing to many. His ideas can also aid professionals who work with the mentally ill in becoming more compassionate.
One day Tom was going to his job at welding with robots. When Tom got there he asked his boss how can we make these machines more efficient. I do not know how they are going to do that but someday we will perfect the perfect machines that will weld perfect on cars. Well get going and start thinking of some ideas that would help us improve the robotic arms. Then the next day tom arrived at work he has an idea that can work.
