Jay's Journal is an interesting book written by Jay. The story is about Jay and how he was led into witchcraft and the occult and using drugs by his girlfriend and others. The author tells how Jay was led into all of this, and it also tells how he got his two best friends into using the same stuff and into the occult also known as the O. The author describes how he learned that the human race was afraid of mind over matter techniques and learned how to use them himself. He was able to levitate small objects and see peoples auwa and aura. This is a great book because it helps some people that deal with the same problems to see what might happen if they choose to follow the same path. I really liked this book because it might help people deal with this type of stuff, it was written in a real person's journal and described what led to his death, and I like how it says what happened every day of his life.

Advertising is form of communicating and using methods into getting the buyers to purchase a product. Cosmopolitan has done a good job in determining what readers and listeners want and need. Cosmopolitan is a magazine directed toward young people who have low self- confidence and low self-esteem and also who care about health and appearance. As Fowles said, “By giving form to people’s deep-lying desires and picturing states of being that individuals privately yearn for.” (Fowles, 137). All advertisers know who and what readers wish or long for.

Harper Weekly’s 1869 cover illustrates an Irish woman and a Chinese man in front of a church. Since they are in front of a church linking arms together, implies that they just married each other. The man’s appearance is Chinese ethnic because he has long black hair braided, slanted eyes, long pointy mustache, his pointy shoes, and shirt and pants culturally signifies Chinese culture. The woman is most likely Irish because they are standing in front of a Catholic church, and most Irish people were Catholic. In addition, her clothing has a close relation to what Irish women wore, especially the hat that she is wearing. Also, people were not used to seeing interracial couples.
Firearms are involved in the deaths of more than 30,000 people in the U. S this year. The “Issue Overview…” by Bloomberg, has a perspective of a writer on the gun issue, and “Famous Speech” by Emma Gonzalez, has an inside observation about the issue of guns considering she was a victim of a school shooting. The article “Famous Speech…” wants to get the word out that the government should take care of the gun control issue. Then, the article “Issue Overview…”, wants to discourse about the problems with gun control. Their goal for both is to tell one how horrendous guns can be in general. The goal for “Famous Speech...”, is to spread the word about the gun issue from a student from the Florida shooting. Then, the goal for “Issue Overview…”, is to tell one what the situation is with gun issues and gun control. Both articles have bountiful comparisons and contraries. Both articles have comparisons.
Assessment of Two Magazine Articles Looking at the studied articles “Lohan behold” by ‘sugar’ magazine featuring Lindsay Lohan and “I don’t need to take care of a man to be happy” by ‘cosmopolitan’ featuring Jennifer Lopez we see the main purpose of the 2 articles are to sell the celebrities lives, and meeting the purpose by entertaining their audience. The title in ‘sugar’;“Lohan behold” is automatically promotes herself , it is in a rough, somewhat untamed font and cuts through the picture this may suggest that this is a reflection of Lohan being wild, untamed and has no control because she is new to the celebrity world. The title “I don’t need a man to be happy” in cosmopolitan has emphasized the words ‘take care’ and ‘man’ and ‘happy’ the title is bold and eye catching and the emphasis of these words can suggest that they are trying to target the people especially women that are married as they are in the same sort of relationship problems but advertising Jennifer but in a positive light both articles have the titles big and bold but ‘cosmopolitan has a much simpler layout and enforces the increasing independency of her.

The society and I know that Cosmopolitan is a magazine that is aimed at women and has been a women’s magazine since the 1960’s. My main message, as me being a constant reader of the Cosmopolitan magazine, that I am trying to get across to you is the certain advertisements Cosmopolitan decides to include in their issues every year. These advertisements create a controversy within the media and I am inspired to make a change to this. I am not only speaking from one woman’s point of view but in fact several of my friends, who are also readers of the magazine, have mentioned similar things to me and the negativity they are concerned it may create towards the women
Maclean’s is a Canadian news magazine established in 1905 by John Bayne Maclean. Distributed weekly, it is Canada’s only national current affairs magazine; it covers such matters as politics, international affairs, social issues, business and culture. On average, the magazine circulates 366,394 issues per week and has a readership of 2,753,000. 51% of readers are men and 49% are women, with an average age of 45 years old.
With the growth of magazine popularity, both online and in print, youth around the world are exposed to the ideas of gender expression, identities, and roles. However, with society’s influence, the spread of heteronormative, cisgender, and white ideals have been placed as top priority. After examining men’s fashion magazine, Gentlemen Quarterly, I discovered that much of their magazine revolved around the typical wealthy, white, straight, and able-bodied male. Despite their attempts to branch out to other minority groups, they are unsuccessful in breaking out of their classic audience. GQ’s website is built to automatically draw their viewers into articles, flashing large pictures and headlines immediately into their audience’s face. Most photos
