With the development of our industry, factories are using much more resource than ever. The dramatic growth of industry is causing deforestation and other environment problems. In the article “Deforestation” in National Geographic, it shows the speed of the forest disappearing as “the size of Panama” every year, and the forests only covered 30% of the total land area. Government needs to take actions as they hold the power, the ability to make laws, and the authority. Because the environment is getting worse, we should take actions to protect all the resources on the earth.
We should protect the water resource we had. In the article “What is Water Pollution” written by Rinkesh, “Industrial waste, sewage and waste water, mining activities, marine dumping, accidental oil leakage, burning of fossil fuels, chemical fertilizers and pesticides, leakage from sewer lines, global warming, radioactive water, urban development, leakage from the landfills, animal waste, underground storage leakage and so on,” are the ways causing water pollution. Although earth is a “blue” planet, the 71% of total area is covered by ocean, the potable water resource on the earth is only 2.53% of the total water resource. People are polluting both

In the article “More Money But a Sicker Planet?” written by Walter, the author agree with the title. He said people care more about their finical problem than the environment, especially at the time having a “serious downturn”. It is understandable while people facing money and environment, they will choose money. The industry did not purity the waste they made, and their product mostly not environment friendly because the finical reason. Businessperson does not make business when the cost is more the sell. People do not want to make effect, that the reason why a person who knows the environment is bad still driving cars, they do not want to
It is difficult for humans to live in harmony with nature because humans’ selfishness always places profits before our earth’s needs. We live in a consumer society, which we purchase interesting products and dispose of them carelessly. Those products with non-decomposable materials, which make our life easier and more comfortable, result a massive damage to our environment. In the articles, “A Fable for Tomorrow” by Rachel Carson and “Our Animals Rite” by Anna Quindlen, both authors suggest destruction in nature world due to human’s activities. As environment issues presented by scientists, governments around the world start to give highly attention on the environmental protection, but there are many challenges in implementing environmental protection policies. Some of the top environmental concerns are air pollution, climate changing and trash waste. Although people started to aware the horrible consequences due to polluted environment, an efficient life, people apathy toward ecosystem and human's unlimited desires for a confortable life have created obstacles for the world to protect the environment.
Our planet, Earth , the surface is covered by 70% of water, so, water is one of the crucial natural resources to living thing, not only human beings, but also animals and plants. Water is used in almost every crucial human daily activities and processes. Hence, water plays an important role in either domestic work or industrial activities. However, the world today is, the pollution of this important resource is happening, and become worse and more serious, day by day, year by year. This problem really gives us a rude shock.
There are 80 countries that have been suffering from a lack of clean water, and two billion people lack access to freshwater, especially South Africa (Alois). This area of countries is the driest in the world - Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt and so on. Like in the book A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, Nya, who lives in Sudan, has been lacking clean water. She has to find water every day for her family. Luckily, Nya got help from Salva who used to live in Sudan and came back from America to build the water system for her village. However, there are still many people around the world that have been suffering to find clean water for basic use. There are many factors that cause a lack of clean water around the world: geography of countries, deforestation,
California is a large state with an increasing population, which results to increased use of resources, especially water for human consumption, industrial uses and irrigation. However, water has become a scarce resource in California with poor communities suffering the most from the shortage. Therefore, through public policy the state government sought a solution to the issue. As a result, it led to the adoption of the recycled water policy on 3 February 2009 (Martineau, 2013). The policy aims at providing reliable and clean water supply for the state. In addition, the policy conserves the availability of fresh water sources by reducing consumption of potable water. The policy has three goals. The first goal is to increase the use of storm water by at most 500,000 acre-feet by 2020 and one million acre-feet by 2030 (Heineman et al., 2001). Secondly, it is to increase recycled water over by at least one million acre-feet by 2020 two million acre-feet by 2030. Thirdly, by 2020, it aims at increasing water conservation by 20%, especially for industrial and urban uses (Heineman et al., 2001). The methodology utilized for execution and approval of this policy was systematic. Initially, the state consulted experts in diverse areas such as water conservation experts, financial experts and other relevant players. It is important because it assisted in drafting the guidelines and rules in the policy. Furthermore, the analysis of the current problem will occur at this point. The second step was conducting a referendum where the public will pass the policy in order for the state to legalize it. During this stage, there will be an evaluation regarding the costs of the problem. The final phase is to authorize a perti...
Water pollution is always one of the major concerns for environmental engineering. Toxic water sources can be a critical problem, it will endanger some species or even the whole eco-system. Also, it might cause various problem of human's health. Water pollution can be caused by different reasons such as acid rain, runoff of fertilizer, industrial wastes etc. Treatment of water is necessary to prevent such pollutants. Engineers have several ways to measure the quality of water
The blame for Americans naturally waste fresh water every day is not an individual 's fault, but the fault of a culture, those before us, and the American society. Americans are not taught by society to save water, but are only taught by parents to save fresh water. Since most Americans are comfortable with the fixtures and appliances that they grew up with, they blindly use them without the understanding of the fresh water that is wastefully used. It is not the fault of Americans that buy the cheapest appliances, which often use more water than needed, that fresh water is being wasted every day. Americans have much to learn about how to save fresh water and how to teach others the importance of saving fresh water in homes across the country.
220,000, that is the number the world population will grow in a single day. Everyday. That is 220,000 new mouths to feed everyday. While globally this issue is already a top concern how will we continue to approach this with populations surging, at what cost will we draw a line and crack down. Overpopulation has contributed to innumerable environmental issues not only on a national level but also on a more substantial transborder level. This paper will focus specifically on the air, water, and land aspect of environmental issues affected by surging populations.
People often get very offended when you start talking about limiting their food choices. They claim it is their right to choose what they eat and to some degree it is and should always be but on the other hand that animal on their plate wasn’t given the right to choose whether they’d be there or not and if we looked each animal in the eye before they went to slaughter we would then truly realize that no animal wants to die and if we don’t need to eat animals to survive then shouldn’t we let that animal live a the life it deserves, one free from all human caused suffering. Doesn’t our environment also deserve to thrive as it once did? We see ever increasingly the man made atrocities, whether it be from oil, industrial, or any other factor.
Fresh, clean, and plentiful water provides the foundation for many communities all around the world. We depend on fresh water to survive, but currently we are heading towards a water crisis, even in California. The changing climate patterns are always threatening lakes, rivers, and even the ocean from melting ice caps, and the key sources that we need for drinking water are being overdrawn or polluted. From severe and frequent droughts to flooding across the world, many of the most profound and immediate and pressing impacts of climate change relates to water. More than one-third of all counties will face high risks of water shortages and problems by 2050 as a result of global warming if it is not stopped. Other serious impacts will include sea level rise, saltwater intrusion into freshwater banks, harm to fisheries because of lack of fish, and more frequent hurricanes and extreme storm events. Somalia, Mauritania, Sudan, and Niger are just some of the nations most heavily affected by the pollution of water and/or not being able to obtain such water. Because water is a necessity for life to be created and to exist, this alarms the international community. These people are forced to drink dirty water that carry diseases and infections and do not have access to fresh water.
Every human in the world has a significant impact on the water cycle, as well as me. Every day I use resources and have a major impact in into this cycle. We often use resources without thinking much about it. It is simply normal to us, that enough of these resources are available for the people. Water is just always available for us.
Water is on of the most precious natural resources that exist on our planet. “It is delivered from the atmosphere in the form of rain, snow, hail, fog, and condensation and returns to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration” (Hannigan 1969). Although many of us love activities that have to do with water, we disregard it and pollute out rivers, lakes and oceans. Slowly but surely we are going to harm out planet till no return. Protecting and conserving nature will secure a better future. 71% of earth is covered with oceans. Sounds like a lot right? Imagine ...
) In the world of ours – war, world hunger, and water – are all problems that we face. On average six to eight million people die per year from not having enough water to drink. If I had to change the world I would make it easier for everyone to be able to get and drink clean water. Even though the world struggles with war which has killed 108 million people, it isn’t a daily thing it’s only once every 20 years, but dying from poor water is an everyday thing. Hunger is another huge problem, but not having water is worse. People can go days without food, but water is something we need to be drinking daily. (4) Having water everywhere will mean people will not die from dehydration, people will live healthier, people will be able to spend time
Economic growth and social development are complementary and they have a close but complex relationship. With the economic growth, it is clear that there are many environmental concerns in today’s society. Air, water, and land pollution have worsened; the environment of wild animals and plants has been seriously damaged; many species are threatened with extinction, deforestation and over-exploitation of mineral resources.
The new solution should be able to last long in order to provide long-term water purification method for the residents in Sandikhola. Therefore only regular maintenance need to be carried out. Thus, it is not necessary to replace the whole system which can cause more hassles and extra costs.
The environment today is not in a good condition, Climate change is evident, and oceans are getting polluted. Rainforrest's are decreasing in size due to deforestation and illegal logging. Animals are getting extinct due to the destruction of their habitats. Natural resources are being consumed at very large amounts, and get wasted. There are different ways these problems can be addressed, one option is environmental management. Environmental management focuses on conservation of natural resources, protection of habitats, and impact of humans on the environment. Conservation of natural resources is the smart use of the world's resources by humans, through this waste production is limited, and there will be less garbage in the world. By conserving
