We Must Put and End to Gender Inequality

“Everyone is kneaded out of the same dough but not baked in the same oven.” This Yiddish Proverb shows the foundation of human kind. As humans, we are all born equal, and we all deserve equal rights in all aspects, such as democracy and social standings. As one takes a look throughout the history of our diverse world, one can see that equality has never been prevalent in any nation. Despite the morality of equality, there has been a constant hierarchy of race, sexuality, class, and innumerable other characteristics. But possibly one of the most unexplainable and improper inequalities is between the genders.

Men have run our world ever since the beginning of time. They have always had sole control over our governments, economies, and social environments. But as well, they have also had control over other human beings lives; specifically speaking those of women. They have had dictatorship over everything from what women think to how they dress; a great example being corsets. Corsets were a common accessory for a woman up until the more recent centuries. These delightful contraptions literally repositioned women’s organs and nearly disabled their breathing, solely for the benefit of a tiny waist line. Women did not come up with this ‘fashionable’ form of torture, nor did they come up with the popularity of the small waist line—men did. In a perfect society one would observe an equal playing field between man and woman, though in our less than perfect society (and everyone else’s as well) one can find a playing field completely dominated by the male gender.

...ight for equal rights and are starting to take a dominant control over their lives. Some call this a rebellion, but many see this is as a pure act of human rights. But no matter what one calls it, these women’s actions are absolutely justifiable. All because women are human beings, and much like men, deserve the same respect, right, and freedom as men.
