After she left for work, I decided to take a break and watch some tv. I clicked through the channels, searching for something at least tolerable to settle on. I came across this show I've never seen before, actually I didn't recognize any of the actors at all. Of course, a foreign film would be what I decide to watch! Something about vampires and world domination, I really couldn't tell you much more than that. Then I saw him. The most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on. It was an instantaneous feeling, an urge to be near this man. I had never fallen in love so fast, so hard in my life. And I didn't even know who he was. My mind went blank, all I could do was focus on this godsend. Who was he and why do I feel this way? I felt like I had been hit by a bus, I was beyond confused and decided I was sleep deprived. Off to bed I went, trying to convince myself I just needed to rest.

It took ages to fall asleep. An eternity of staring at the black ceiling, listening to the fan, counting sheep, trying to shut my brain off. It was almost like I was afraid to fall asleep, terrified ...

Essay on We Meet Again

- “Mary. It’s time for dinner. Will you please get in here!” My mother impatiently screamed from the kitchen. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Why she had to be so loud, I’d never understand. I’m pretty sure even the neighbors could hear my mother at times. She wasn’t one for subtlety, not even in the slightest. Or maybe she really was clueless to the fact she came off like a complete bitch even calling for me from the other room. But nevertheless, she is my mother. I walked as slowly as possible to the other side of our place of residence....   [tags: short story]

Mitch Albom’s, The Five People You Meet in Heaven Essay

- In Mitch Albom’s, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the author centers the story around Eddie’s life, beginning with his death. “It might seem strange to start a story with an ending. But all endings are also beginnings. We just don’t know it at the time” (1, paragraph 1). The most important thing in this story that we must all understand is that although we may not know it, somehow our lives all have a common intersection. “No story sits by itself. Sometimes stories meet at corners and sometimes they cover one another completely, like stones beneath a river (16, paragraph 8)....   [tags: The Five People You Meet in Heaven]

Learning Racism in Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin Essay

- Learning Racism in Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin James Baldwin, an African American author born in Harlem, was raised by his violent step-father, David. His father was a lay preacher who hated whites and felt that all whites would be judged as they deserve by a vengeful God. Usually, the father's anger was directed toward his son through violence. Baldwin's history, in part, aids him in his insight of racism within the family. He understands that racists are not born, but rather racist attitudes and behaviors are learned in the early stages of childhood....   [tags: James Baldwin Going to Meet the Man]

The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom Essay

- The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom For my book report I chose to read and critique Mitch Albom’s “The Fine People You Meet in Heaven”. Mitch Albom’s story is centered on a character named Eddie. Eddie is a grizzled war veteran who feels like he has led a nothing to show life, and blames most his problems on his father. Unlike most stories ours begins at the end with Eddie’s death. After dying Eddie goes on a journey through heaven and along the way he meets five people that teach him of the impact of things he has done during his life....   [tags: Mitch Albom Five People Meet Heaven]

We Meet In Dreams Essay

- It was clear to me that the person I have been following was watching me. Stalking me. Obsessing over me. He was so handsome, yet every time I met eyes with him, he never smiled. He hardly noticed anyone but me, and it terrified me. I always tried to shrug it all off, but every night, before I went to sleep, his haunting, ghostly pale green eyes creeped into my thoughts. He scared me, yet every time I closed my eyes I was eager to meet him in the dream world, where we always met. This night seemed different....   [tags: personal narrative]

Meet and Greet Essay

- The claws of fear reach up my back; it was time to meet our RM. Stumbling forward with Kat trailing behind, we meet three other students conversing quietly with the same man who delivered the paper. A good two inches taller than I am, the twins stand on either side of me. I look up to one of the twin boys, his eyes flash down to mine before giving me a sly smil¬¬¬e. I don’t return it. “You are to go up this set of stairs” —the man gesticulates toward an old staircase that I hadn't noticed before—“take a left down the second corridor you come to....   [tags: personal narrative]

It Was Happening Again - Original Writing Essay

- It was happening again. I knew it was happening and yet there was nothing I could do about it. I knew everything that was going to happen, everything that was going to be said and I could never change the outcome of the dream. I’ve lived through this dream a hundred times and every time it scared me. It was late and the snows had come to stay. The sun weakly rose in the sky only to set quickly, never providing enough light or warmth for this winters day. Her parents owned a small store in town and carried all manner of goods, most of which were destined for farmers that lived nearby....   [tags: Mother, Mother insult, Auburn hair, Parent]

I Will Soon Be Myself Again Essay

- “I’m Just Going to Ball This up so Tiny & Leave it in the Dust; I Will Soon Be Myself Again” Prelude As I spoke to my parents looking for someone who would be willing to gift me part of their story for this illness narrative, my dad suggested his boss from work. Dad said she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in March earlier this year and he was more than sure that with her grandma’ love she would take me in, feed me, and tell me all I needed to know and more. Last year, I won a scholarship from the company, Dairy Fresh, and briefly met her at a company dinner, so when dad mentioned my project she didn’t hesitate to look at her calendar for when she could meet and said she would do anyt...   [tags: Cancer, Breast cancer, Cancer staging, Breast]
