Waste management is the operation of how waste materials are handled. The affair of waste management is relevant to everyone world-wide. Wastes are materials that have no further economic use, and when disposed of, are hazardous to humans and the environment. Wastes include solid waste, liquid wastes, and air pollutants created by humans and cannot be naturally recycled. Current waste management techniques need to be completely overhauled because funding in government budget is not enough to meet standards, landfills are reaching their maximum capacity worldwide, and nuclear waste storage must be handled correctly. They found that even when the money is set aside, failure to follow guidelines hurts the budget even more. If you don’t acquire these fancy popular gadgets then you are not living the normal state of living, giving the impression you can’t afford or poor. If one lacks the newest and coolest phone or gadget they are looked down on. This mentality is extremely toxic to our pockets and society. A garbage crisis is at hand. As a nation, we have begun to worry that the growing mounds of wastes will only continue to increase as the means of disposal become further restricted. Government agencies and public officials are urgently trying to find a solution. The waste dilemma has become the centerpiece of the politics of garbage.
Household wastes management is a major challenge in urban areas throughout the world. Without an efficient and effective household wastes management system, the waste generated from household will bring the negative impact on the environment and human health. So, the waste generation, the availability of resources, and the environmental conditions must be understand in developing an appropriate household wastes management system. Household wastes can be defined as a solid waste that comprises of rubbish and garbage, as such cans, bottles, clothing, food packaging, newspapers, and etc. that originates from private homes or apartments. As a many complaints about the lack of cleanliness, the federal government decided in the mid-1990s that waste management would be managed by private companies which are shown in Table 1.0 that divided into four zones.
Human’s final solution regarding to deal with waste is to inform society to produce less waste and impose companies to produce recyclable and non-hazardous products. For paving this path, material management method would be more useful than other solutions.
Delving further, we realize that ‘Waste management’ essentially means “the collection, transport, recovery and disposal of waste, including the supervision of such operations and aftercare of disposal sites”. However the latest concepts are of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle of waste’ over and above waste disposal.
Maintaining clean and healthy environments can be a daunting task, especially when cleanliness must be maintained in large, metropolitan areas. Creating a clean space for large numbers of people requires a careful eye for details and strategic planning for the best waste management practices. Waste management practices range from many sources and may vary based on the amount of land mass available and population size. Throughout the United Kingdom, these practices include recycling, composting, gasification, and landfill usage as a means of controlling trash and other waste substances. In this research paper, I will discuss the ways in which the United Kingdom controls waste throughout its countries and how might these processes be effective practices. Furthermore, I will analyze the waste treatment processes and explore why these processes might improve the environment for the United Kingdom citizens.

Resource recovery and waste management are rapidly becoming global concerns as depletion of non-renewable resources is inevitable without significant intervention. In many cities, the existing technology and infrastructure have the potential to operate far more efficiently with less resource use and more recovery than they are currently achieving. National policies should encourage long term Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) solutions focused on the sustainability of non-renewable resources rather than short term solutions. Traditional methods of waste disposal have proven to be ineffective and have caused harmful effects on the environment. The most popular and inexpensive way to get rid of garbage is burial, but burying your problems does not necessarily mean getting rid of them. Landfill sites pose as severe ecological threats as these mass garbage dump yards overflow with trash and frequently contaminate our air, soil and water with hazardous wastes. About 400 million tons of hazardous wastes are generated each year1. A large-scale release of these materials can cause thousands of deaths and may poison the environment for many years. For example many industrial companies around the world cannot afford to enforce the strict pollution regulations set by many developed countries. This usually forces these types of companies to move to developing countries where pollution regulations are very lenient. These developing countries knowingly accept environmentally hazardous companies usually because they are in desperate need of employment. The harmful effects of these companies were clearly illustrated in the 1960s and 1970s when residents living near Minamata Bay, Japan, developed nervous disorders, tremors, and paralysis in a mysterious epidemic. The root was later found to be a local industry that had released mercury, a highly toxic element, into Minamata Bay. The disaster had claimed the lives of 400 people1. Since 1970 you can bet that a lot more than 400 people have died as a result of waste disposal. If the type of waste disposal were cheaper and effective we wouldn’t have to deal with waste problems, which still plague mankind today.
A good design of a waste management system can go a long way in improving the sanitation system and help reduce diseases caused by human waste. For a country like Timor-Leste that requires a good waste management system, a toilet would be of great importance to a community where most people either defecate in the open or in the bushes. Wastes are the products of our consumptions in our daily life routines such as lunch, work, school and other things we do. Little things such as throwing out a piece of paper, we are producing waste by the seconds. After we consume a product we usually throw out what’s left that can’t be consumed any further. Results in producing waste, substance that are born after it’s been use or consume by us. At the end of each day we throw out a bag full of garbage, all of the materials in that bag (paper towels, cans, leftover foods and many other material’s) all of these are waste. Hospitals produce medical waste such as use needles for treating patients. Corporations produce papers, plastics, tires, steels, cans and many other type of solid waste which contribute to the pollutions that cause health risk and other environmental issues.
