Shirley Jackson article provides a clear example on her opinion on whether or not Christianity was a new religion. She stated “That the world was not exactly without religion when Christianity first appeared”. Her article describes how she believes that Christianity cannot claim to be new in the sense as the first religion. When Christianity was first discovered it entered the world as competitor not as the first that was discovered. She outlines that the same problems that other religions teachers faced had to be first solved by Christian Missionaries. She also stated that Christianity had a connection with the Jews and that it was impossible to think of them as a new religion. The reason that she said that was because Christianity had a connection with Jews way before they was even introduced as Christianity. One of her main concerns was that many members of Christianity were Jews by birth and continued to honor Jews as they grew older. Years ago the earlier Christians got most of their ideas from their Jewish Ancestors and they included most of their ancestor’s ideas into Christianity. However, she believes that instead of Christianity establishing their own ideas they established most of their ideas from Jews. This is where the real question kicks in “Was Christianity a New Religion”? So from Shirley Jackson opinion that she stated in her article Christianity was not really a New Religion but instead a religion that embraced most of their religious ideas from Jews.

In this article he also talks about how the Contemporary Christianity has not cared about the particular needs for African Americans and how they did not provide utilities the for African renaissance. It also points out how most African Church’s frown upon African cultural expressions and how inadequate it is to promote African values, cultures, aesthetics, and historical texts.
