“Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic, whimsy, and optimism..”(Brad A.) Well all know Walt Disney as the creator of Mickey Mouse and the man who made the first Disney movies and cartoons famous. Walt Disney did so much more than just make Mickey Mouse. He touched hearts and made a positive impact on so many people’s lives. He also made Disney famous around the world. Today there is Disney themed parks in Hong Kong, Paris, and Tokyo. Along with the famous Disney Land in California and the famous Disney World in Florida.

Walt was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901. He was the 4th born out of 5 children. Walt’s father; Elias, abused his children and was a very strict man. When Walt was nine years old, the Disney family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Walt loved it there because they moved onto a farm. At this point he loved to draw. He liked to draw the animals at the farm and he liked to draw the house they lived in. One day when Walt and his younger sister Ruth, were home alone, Walt put black tar all over the side of the house and stuck his drawings to it. When his parents got home, Walt’s father wasn’t happy at all. Along with getting in trouble at home for drawing, he also got in trouble at school. He never payed attention in class, he just sat at his desk and drew. When Walt drew his pictures he did it the way he wanted to. “Walt still liked to draw- but he liked to do it in his way. In school, he was once told to draw a bowl of flowers. Walt gave the flowers faces. Instead of leaves, he drew arms..”(Ford) At age nine Walt was delivering newspapers for his father. He had to wake up at 3:30 every morning and had to deliver the papers in any kind of weather. He was so tired he fell ...

In this park though, Walt didn’t want the park to have just rides, he wanted to have “the city of the future.” Disney was all about the future, and looking forward to a brighter tomorrow, so Disney made up the idea of EPCOT. Which means Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Walt Disney wasn’t alive to see the finished product of Disney World. It opened in 1971. Walt died of lung cancer on December 15, 1966. He was only 65 years old.

Walt Disney made a giant franchise that still continues today throughout the world. Everyone knows who Walt Disney is. Walt wanted to help make an impact on the world, and he achieved that. Walt’s work brought happiness to not just children’s lives, but to adult’s lives as well. “It is certain, that there will never be such a great man, as Walt Disney..”(Brad A.)
