Disney was first formed in 1923 when founders Walt Disney and his brother, Roy, created an animated short called Alice Comedies (“The Walt Disney Studios – History, n.d.). Years later in 1937, Disney established a large following from the production of their first ever full-length animated movie, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (“The Walt Disney Studios – History, n.d.). The large revenues that flowed in from this production allowed Walt Disney to grow his business into the multimillion-dollar company that it is today.

Philippians 2 gives us guidance on how to imitate Christs love through, humility, stewardship and giving. The verse states;
“3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” (Phil 2:3-7) Disney’s social awareness has not disappointed when relating to this passage. What they have done and what they are planning to do in the future, is right on track with what can be seen in scripture. In trying to understand Philippians 2:5-11 it is equally important to understand what is going on both before this passage occurs and what happens after. Paul is writing a letter to the church in Philippi and unlike some of his other letters he is filled with joy when writing to them. Immediately his letter begins with praise and thanksgiving directed towards the Philippians due to their kindness and provisions that they had consistently provided for Paul while he was in Prison. Paul then goes on to write about the fact that his imprisonment has advanced the Gospel of Christ. Paul then continues on to talk about the way in which the Philippians need to compose themselves and tells them to “stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel” (1:27). He says this because at the time the Philippians had a lot of forces that opposed them, just as Christ did when he was here on earth. Rather then becoming boastful or prideful Paul urges the Philippians to be like a servant who gives all the glory to God and not upon oneself. This then leads him into 2:5-11.
Walt Disney, the founder of Disney, was born on December 5, 1901. He founded Disney in January 1920. As a young child he had moved around a lot with his family due to work. Disney’s most famous cartoon was mickey mouse and the mickey mouse collection was created in the late 1920`s and Walt did the voice of mickey mouse until 1947. The Disney corporation is easily the greatest empire of entertainment in the world thanks to the creator Walt Disney and his brother. Disney’s influence has been great within culture and society and I learned how much of an influence Disney has had through our course this semester. This influence is reflected and broadcasted through the many works and readings that we examined in class. The articles gave me new knowledge about Disney that I was previously unaware of.
Walt Disney and Roy Disney started the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in 1923, the name of the company evolved over time and is currently referred to as the Walt Disney Company. The company diversified its portfolio from family entertainment to media genres such as radio, music, theatre and online content. Disney prides itself as being the second largest media empire after Comcast, this is based on revenue analysis. It has evolved over the years to diversify into more mature content as compared to its initial focus on family based entertainment such as Mickey Mouse, Donald duck among others. The company’s headquarters are at Burbank, California.

As Dr. John Abraham Stover Iii states, movies such as The Princess and the Frog, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, and Big Hero 6 have defined modern Walt Disney Studios as a film company that encourages children to never allow unethical values define a society. Most recently, Walt Disney’s Zootopia directly addressed political and social corruption, as well as how to resolve discrimination, in which Chinese journalist Shirui Xue identified the social values of the film for children given the current political and social climate. Parson not only wants to help his followers to be on the right path, he wants to help the people that are not doing the right things.
What many people don’t know is that Mickey Mouse wasn’t always a good influence to not only children but to many others also. Over the years Mickey Mouse has evolved into an icon that is worthy of children’s attention and their parents’ money. Through the use of movies, television shows, video games, theme parks and merchandise Mickey Mouse affects most children’s lives every day even if it isn’t noticeable. Mickey Mouse has also given rise to many big movie productions and sales. While being educational Mickey Mouse also entertains children and teaches them a lesson that children enjoy and find fun. Not only does Mickey Mouse have educational purposes he also tries to form a Utopia environment for all families that use and watch Mickey’s products.
