Walt Disney
His creations have affected the lives of most families across the world with joys and laughter with his movies and/or series of cartoons. A creator, an innovator, and the owner of a wild imagination the world has ever known Walt Disney could take the fantasies of America and make them come true.
Walter Elias Disney was born December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. The wild imagination Walt Disney had would have never came about if it had not been his father desire to roam around. Elias Disney, Walt’s father, could not stay in one area too long. He believed Chicago had grown too large and that crime was increasing. Elias made the decision to move his family to the rural town of Marceline, Missouri, where his family enjoyed living a peaceful and simple life. Their farm was a perfect place for young Walt to feed his energetic imagination, but when Walt turned 16, his family moved once again soon after Elias Disney became sick with typhoid fever caused by the insanitary well water on the farm. The family soon sold the farm and moved to Kansas City, where Walt took his first job delivering newspapers in the mornings and afternoons. Walt’s love for sketching grew with time. By 1917, his family had returned to Chicago, where Walt enrolled at William McKinley High School. He drew editorial cartoons for the school newspaper and eventually became its junior art editor. Encouraged by his success, he began taking evening classes at the Chicago Institute of Art. He met some of the most excellent newspaper cartoonists in Chicago. ... though the lines with greater speed. Seven weeks after its opening, Disneyland had welcomed 1 million visitors from across the country and even other parts of the world. Disney was soon talking with those who build Disneyland about creating another theme park in Florida. He envisioned not just an amusement park, but also a world of tomorrow that would give visitors a glimpse of what the future might look like. In October 1971, the dream indeed came true as Walt Disney World opened in Florida. The man who planned Walt Disney World would not live to see it. Walt Disney died of severe lung cancer on December 15, 1966. He was 65. Walt Disney was not always as liked as much as Mickey. However, through his characters, movies, television programs, and theme parks, the impact he made on American society is still visible today. In addition, his genius will live on.
