Does the workplace in the modern era still have a Gender Pay Gap? We as Americans have been trying for years to make sure everyone have equal rights while being in the U.S. In the U.S we are focused on the pay rate of jobs because money makes life easier. So when we discuss the pay rate in the U.S. we seem to overlook the pay between men and women. Both genders that have the same experience along with schooling still seem to have a discrepancy in their pay. Most people overlook the disparity at abroad. But, when looking at in depth it is rather alarming at the difference. We do not notice that much at the entry level, but at the professional level it is rather disturbing. Normally these jobs take the same amount of time and education. But, yet there is a large pay gap between male and females. In reference to Preidt (2011), “In 1999, normal pay rates for new doctors were $151,600 for ladies and $173,400 for men — a 12.5 percent distinction. In 2008, the midpoints were $174,000 for ladies and $209,300 for men – an almost 17 percent distinction, the specialists found.” The number just seems to keep growing as more women doctors keep coming in. As said earlier, women closed the gap considerably in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. But, yet the gap now continues to grow of the same position with the same amount of education. As stated by Goudreau (2011), “Women now earn nearly half of all degrees, but the compensation gap has increased in the last decade” (para. 9). Women doctors are becoming more popular than male doctors and yet they are not getting compensated for it. The women doctors have a right to be equally paid as their male
