Multiple Personality Disorder
More than two million cases can be found altogether in psychological and psychiatric records of multiple personality disorder also called dissociative identity disorder. It is often thought that multiple personality disorder is a trick, a bizarre form of "play-acting" that is committed by manipulative, attention-seeking individuals. It is not. Multiple personality disorder is a "disorder of hiding" wherein 80-90% of multiple personality disorder patients do not have a clue that they have the disorder. Most know that there is something wrong with them; many fear that they are crazy, but few know that they have a disorder.
What is Multiple Personality Disorder?
Multiple personalities is a dissociate reaction to stress in which the patient develops two or more personalities. Each personality has a distinct, well-developed emotional and thought process and represents a unique and relatively stable personality. The individual may change from one personality to another at periods varying from a few minutes to several years. The personalities are usually very different and have different attitudes; one may be happy, carefree and fun loving, and another quiet, studious, and serious.
People can have up to fifty personalities or more. All personalities usually will have their own name and their own role. For example one personality can be the keeper of pain, his role is to take and feel all the pain that the other personalities come in contact with. The personality also can have their own appearance, but this does not mean the person changes its outer image it is just the way he/she sees inside his/her head. The personalities will also have different ages, talents, and likes and dislikes. For example:
In the novel, The Minds of Billy Miligin, there was a man who had twenty-four personalities. All of his twenty-four personalities were different. They had different ages, their own appearance, and some were of the opposite sex. The personalities all had their own role and their own talents. There was one personality that was right handed all others were left handed, only one smoked, one had a British accent another Slavic. Many used their own talents some liked to paint, one was an escape artist, one was a karate expert and another a sculptor.
Various types of relationships may exist between the different personalities. Usually the individual alternates from one personality to the other, and can not remember in one, what happened in the other. Occasionally however while one personality is dominant and functions consciously, the other continues to function sub-consciously and is referred to the co conscious personality.
According to 10 Weird and Wacky Beauty Facts by Andrea Lavinthal, in ancient Greece, the most sought-after hair color was blond. Not many Greeks were naturally blond, so light hair was probably perceived as beautiful because it was so exotic. Women would lighten their hair using plant extracts or arsenic. They also washed their locks with a mixture of ashes, olive oil, and water. She also explained how “it was a shame that extension weren’t available during the Heian period when a Japanese woman’s beauty was judges by the length of her hair, since the ideal was considered almost two feet longer than her waist. We’re assuming that ponytails were a popular hairstyle back then.” There are many other crazy facts about beauty facts like Vaseline makes your eyelashes grow and can take off makeup, or if your finger nails are discolored from using dark polish, use a slice of lemon on them and they will regain their color (The beauty magazine, Roselyn Miller, pg. 67). Going into the field of Cosmetology helps you express yourself and it brings out your inner creativity. That is one of the many reason I love this line of work, because when I do hair it lets me express myself while creating a hairstyle of my own. The first time I started doing hair was when I was about 10 or 11, I was a natural! I want to be able to know my clients and exactly what will look right on my clients and read people, so I would know what they do like just by talking to them. I need to learn to separate family from business. I do know some things about this field I before this assignment that cosmetology is not just about doing hair, it’s also about learning about the Skin; Doing make up, eye lashes, etc. You also learn about nails; doing a...
It can be something like not remembering where you left your car keys. All the brain slip ups can be brought back to something that you are doing or experiencing in your life. It can because you are getting older, have anxiety or even something as simple as walking through a door. Research has shown that there are more common causes of this syndrome but those are the main causes. We all hate having the tip-of-the-tongue syndrome but there are ways to get around it. You can try focusing on your task more or even reduce your anxiety levels. However, there is still research being done about this subject and scientists are not sure of all the causes of brain farts. No matter what you do, sometime in your life you are going to experience a brain
Ted Bundy, was a brilliant man and a master of manipulation. Ted Bundy was the ultimate criminal master mind, but he was extremely egotistic, and he let it get the best of him in the end. Bundy was born november 24th, 1946 in Vermont to his unwed mother Eleanor Louise Cowell, and was raised to believe his grandparents,Samuel and Eleanor Cowell, were his parents. Bundy blamed not his life at home for his killings, for he deemed his life at home to be “normal”, and instead blamed pornography to be the root of his killings (forerunner.com).
...Bundy was convicted for the two Chi Omega murders. Even though he was his own attorney he could not fight the evidence. He left bite marks on one of the bodies that was a definitive match for Bundy. He was given the death penalty twice for those crimes. He also received another death penalty the following year in the murder of Kimberly Leach. Bundy fought for his life for about 10 years. (3)
He was born into a single mother household because his father was never in the picture. He grew up thinking his mother was his sister and that his grandparents were his parents. When Bundy learned his mother Louise was not his sister it turned his world upside down. When he was fourteen he was suspected of killing his first victim of many. He supposedly killed an eight-year-old named Ann Marie Burr on August 31. 1961 in Tacoma, Washington. This is an important time to look at for his pathology. It shows that he had rage as a child, and that this was probably an episode of him acting out when he found out his mother was not his sister, and that his grandparents were not his real parents. He was very anti-social as a child, and misbehaved. Once Bundy found out the truth by finding his birth certificate. Ted’s cousin bullied him relentlessly by calling him a bastard and cruelly showing him his birth certificate (http://crimefeed.com.com/2015/06/ted-bundy-grew-up-thinking-mother-sister-dark-revelations-killers-family/ .) Once Bundy grew to be a teenager he was attractive and liked among fellow peers from his high school. You would think he is normal right? Well, not so much; he eventually graduated and got accepted into the University of Puget Sound and that is when the confirmed assaults and murders started popping up. The change from college is a rather big one. He had just broken up with his longtime girlfriend, and that was another stressor in Bundy’s life. Having two stressors can really bring out the psychopathic tendencies in someone if they had a troubled past. On January 4, 1974 was Bundy’s first official assault. Her name is Karen Sparks, an eighteen-year-old whom he bludgeoned and sexually assaulted as she slept (www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted-Bundy .) In total Bundy ended up confessing to thirty homicides, but some publishers say his victim count was as high as one hundred
Bundy spent years trying to fight for his life, spending the last couple of years in his life appealing his death sentence. He also tried to keep his case alive by trying to take his case to a high as the U.S. Supreme Court but his case was turned down. He even tried to give more information on case that where unsolved so he could avoid the Florida's electric chair. By now things for him to solve and come clean was too late. Ted had to face the time for the brutal things he did to those young beautiful women even if it kill him.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines divination as, “the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge, usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers.” However, many choose to define it as a scam, without taking into account whether or not divination is actually an example of the supernatural at play. As a result, the practice and belief in divination have varied widely throughout history; in fact, the people who believe/practice it have been called everything from witches and con artists, to gods on earth. Nevertheless, whether or not the science behind divination can be proven, the continuing belief in the ¨unknowns¨ represented by it are alive and well.
The practice of improving the beauty of others may seem insignificant to some but for those in process of studying the cosmetology industry take great pride in the work they hope to produce. Hair stylist and nail technicians improve the way people look and feel about oneself to better improve self confidence; cosmetologist strive to do the best they can to achieve the look that their client may be searching for. However, these techniques must be taught thoroughly and without the proper teaching techniques, the upcoming cosmetologist may feel behind and uncertain about their abilities when performing on clients. Without the proper and professional ways of teaching, the student struggle to ever gain success in the business; this business builds only from the repetition of great work and failing to achieve the overall style of the desired look from the client will result in a failing business. The search of finding a successful and up to date school requires more work than one may assume.
There are many different types of careers in the cosmetology field. The different types are; hairstylist, perm or hair color specialist, manicurist, pedicurist, barber, or esthetician. Anyone can major in one of these careers, multiple ones, or all of them. It doesn't matter how many they major in, they will still be considered a cosmetologist. To get a major in cosmetology, it is required to take a class in the career you are interested in. A typical cosmetology training program typically lasts nine months to about a year. Students are instructed on hair styling and cutting, scalp treatments, hair color, manicures and pedicures, chemical texture services, acrylic nail application, massages, facials, and eyebrow shaping. A student then takes advanced courses to expand their knowledge in this career. These courses may include studies on scalp disorders and diseases, scalp analysis, color application techniques, hair cutting tools, main principles of hair design, hair removal, massage techniques and benefits, cosmetology law and safe work practice. Once the course is finished, including service hours, the person then has to take and pass a state exam on the course. Once the exam is passed, the person then receives their certificate.
Another theory that could provide insight into understanding Bundy’s serial killer tendencies is called the Organized/Disorganized Theory. This theory hypothesizes that serial killers are either organized or disorganized offenders and a careful examination of a crime scene and available forensic evidence will indicate their personality and behavioral characteristics (Vronsky 2013). Ted Bundy would be classified as an organized defender under this theory because he had above average intelligence, was socially competent and lived what looked to be an average life. The crime scene of an organized offender suggests the killer planned his attack, bringing a weapon with him as well as taking it with him when he leaves. Bundy’s carefully planned out use of a sling on his arm to entrap his victim in his car or other confined space and his subsequent use of a weapon to bludgeon the confined victims fits the criminal profile of an organized serial
Dissociative identity disorder or DID for short, was previously referred to as multiple personality disorder. DID is a dissociative disorder involving a disturbance of identity in which two or more separate and distinct personalities or identities, control an individual's behavior at different times (National Alliance of Mental Illness). Meaning, that the person with DID has to have more than one separate identity that “inhabits” them for a period of time.
I have many talents and interest that will help me succeed in the cosmetology field like communication skills, business skills, a sense of creativity and technical skills. Many people enroll in hair school to learn the basic fundamental skills to become an outstanding candidate in the field. A cosmetologist’s creativity skills, business skills and communication skills need to be very effective. Other skills are required as well, but without basic skills a cosmetologist will not succeed in the industry. How can you operate a business without knowing any of the basics? How can you work on someone’s head without knowing what style would fit their face perfectly? As a cosmetologist sometimes you have to let your client know its okay to try new styles and that everything will not always work on them. As new trends are invented or start to resurface from previous years you will need to stay updated.
Brain farts are very common and they happen to everyone. In fact, by the time that most people reach the age of 65 they could be having brain farts once a day (The Science Behind Brain Farts, 2015). A brain fart is a temporary mental lapse or failure to reason correctly. Scientists call brain farts “the tip-of-the-tongue syndrome” or TOT. There are many examples of TOT that happen to people every day. We all have forgotten someone’s name, but feel like we know it. We come so close to remembering it that it’s as if it is on the tip of our tongues. We may use acoustic or semantic cues to help us. Semantic cues relate things to meaning, while acoustic cues are sounding out words or phrases to help with remembering or recall (Rathus, 2010, pg.
Ted Bundy was a monster who refused to accept his crimes and tried to delay his execution many times. He confessed that he committed gruesome acts of butchery and necrophilia many crimes and left behind an unparallel number of victims to an investigator. Bundy’s delaying tactics finally came to an end on 24th January, 1989, and he was executed at 7 am. His body was cremated and spread over the same Washington State Mountain area that served as his dumping ground for the bodies of his victims.
In the earliest century cosmetology changes were very slow and less prominent, but in the 20th century everything started changing. Trends and styles changed faster and faster every year. Cosmetology is honestly just the study and practice of a beautician, but in today’s world that has also changed. Cosmetology has became a professional field under a lot of specialized categorized fields as well, including hair colorist, esthetician nail technician, makeup artist, electrologist, and more.
