“Greek Theatre”
Hello my name is Chris Gerald and I want to tell you about Thespis. The honor of the beginning of theatre should be given to one man. His name is Thespis. With his chorus he would carry his belongings on a cart whose floor and tailboard could form an improvised stage. In traveling from one festival to another eventually he reached Athens, Greece. He was said to be the first to win a prize at the newly established festival in the city of Dionysia. The great innovation that Thespis made was to detach himself from the chorus, and engage in dialogue in the character of god or the hero whose deeds were being celebrated. He was said to be the first actor as well as a manager. Thespis was the first unsanctified person who dared to assume the character of a god.
The most important feature of their costumes was the mask, said to have been introduced by Thespis. Masks were made of lightwood, cork or linen. These enabled three actors in a tragedy to play several parts each. It also allowed a theatre staffed entirely of men to
Impersonate woman since woman were not allowed to be in plays. More than thirty types of masks are said to have existed. Each one showing age, standing, sex, fear, rage, hate, and despair.“My Greatest Fear”
Of all the fears in life, my greatest would definitely have to be the loss of my parents. My parents have had a great influence in my life. Threw thick and thin they have been there right by my side. I would be lost without them.
My childhood memories of my mom are always warm. I can remember her tucking me in for bed every night. She always has good advice for me in every situation I am in. If I ever lost her it would be a great chunk out of my life. I wouldn’t have anyone to confide in.
My dad is the provider for our house. I can remember one year he worked threw Christmas just to keep his job. That was a very sad point in my life. He always makes sacrifices for our family. He helps me the most when my mom and me are having trouble.
Following, Staying Centered, Gross continued to develop his turbulence theory, and further inculcated it into school leadership with the publications of the following books: Promises Kept: Sustaining School and District Leadership in a Turbulent Era (2004), Leadership Mentoring: Maintaining School Improvement in Turbulent Times (2006), and in partnership with the educational researcher Joan Poliner Shapiro, Ethical Educational Leadership in Turbulent Times: (Re)Solving Moral Dilemmas (2013). Gross (2006) tells us,
Although many of her actions were parallel with fellow manager in General Accounting Troy Nordmand’s, he did not receive a prison sentence due to the fact that he attempted to leave the company (although Vinson did initially plan to resign). Conversely, Vinson was sentenced to five months in prison and five months of home detention. One particularly interesting aspect of Betty Vinson’s case is the inclusion of her concerns over taking home pay and having health insurance, in addition to the fact that she had a positive reputation and was known for doing “anything you told her”. While it is normal to have concerns over job security, the emotional appeals in her situation add a different side to the story. One could argue that she is a victim -- she could have been targeted due to her reputation, or that fear drove her to do things she otherwise would not have considered. The issue here, however, is that she facilitated the fulfillment of Sullivan’s requests and pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud. As far as the case specifies, despite any superior’s knowledge of Vinson’s tendencies, she was not absolutely forced to do or not do anything. Because she committed the crime and pleaded accordingly, the criminal charges and consequent sentencing was both expected and
...ts. For example, if ten lives can be saved at the cost of one, Utilitarians feel they have reached a positive outcome. This begs the question of whether or not all people’s lives have equal value as we get down to choosing between who is worthy and unworthy of living at the cost of others.
Greek Theater first started with festivals in which gods would be honored and where people would come together to celebrate. This event was known as the Festival of Dionysus since it honored Dionysus, who was the god of grape harvest or winemaking. During this festival, people would perform acts and songs to welcome the god of grape and winemaking. Many people attend the festival especially the performance and it became really popular. Soon, the acts that were performed at the Festival of Dionysus evolved from not only performing for Dionysus but instead all the Greek gods and also about life. This started the time of Greek Theater. As theater became a big part in the lives of Greek people, it became their duty or responsibility to attend these
From the Oedipus Rex’s Interactive Orals, I learned about the Greek theatres and the perfect tragedy. The Greek theatres were established in ancient Greece for music songs, honoring gods, mainly Dionysus. The growing popularity of the theatres started evolving the theaters. At first: writers, directors and actors were the same person but soon it started evolving. Now the plays started to have separate actors, writers and directors. The structures of the Greek theatre were absolutely incredible. Theatron was a way it was created the way so that everyone could hear and see the play very well. The costumes of the actors were exaggerated with emotions and style. As the actors have a face mask for the feeling they were trying to portray.
In the theatre, awareness of the past is more important. Festival theatre are still in existence and some audiences admire. During the first two thousand years of its existence western theatre was markedly different from the professional and commercial theatre that we know today. The Greek, Roman, and Medieval theatre experiences had some similarities in common. For the most part, they were performed especially on occasions and not on everyday basis. They performance were considered offerings to gods. In addition, male performer simply musical accompaniment, large audience spaces, and formalized scenic backgrounds. Greek and Roman theatre used masks for all characters and medieval theatre used masks for devils and sometimes for allegorical
I could spend a long time working with the mask and elicit a different result or persona each time. It felt as if the character had come from within the mask and not through some aspect of my imaginative processes. As another great trainer
Media houses and News channels in particular, were originally founded to keep the masses informed of what was currently going on in the world around them. Over the years, media has evolved to be a selling tool. The fact that there are so many media houses out there today does not make the issue better but worse. With the competition between media houses growing, the way news and entertainment is transmitted to the consumer has changed, as also the consumer base has grown. The power of media is gigantic when it comes to influencing the minds of people. With its ample power, Media has the capability to incorporate a specific bias in news by molding or shaping its contents to portray a desired impression. However, the general public still yearns for the real unbiased news content and seeks multiple opinions from various media channels available. This tendency has aggravated the competition between the media channels as every other channel endeavors to present a different angle of incidence with a specific bias.
... small media reforms (like public journalism) will be enough to reduce the commercial and corporate imperatives driving our existing media systems (Hackett and Zhao, 1998, p. 235). Instead, a fundamental reform of the entire system is needed, together with a wider institutional reform of the very structures the media systems work within, our democracies. This will be a difficult task, due to powerful vested interests benefiting from the status quo, including media, political and economic elites. Reforms will need to be driven by campaigns mobilising public support across the political spectrum, to enable the citizens of the world to have a media system that works to strengthen democratic principles as opposed to undermining them. This task is challenging, but it will become easier once people begin to understand the media’s role in policymaking within our democracies.
I went closely to my grandmother, I kiss her and I told her I will come any holy that I get time. My mother is waiting outside the house. She carried, when she sows me, how I am skinny and weak. I run toward her. I kiss her and she kisses me. I told her not to Carrie, because I am strong, I will be going back to visit my grandmother during my holy days. She was happy the way I have changed through physical, mentally and behavior. The next morning my father took me to the school. Whenever I went do something bad I will remember the advice of my grandmother and the hard life of the rural area. I become good students, who always help his family, respect his teachers and performing good grade in the school. Schools close I use visit my grandmother. All the people ask questions about my father, where he took me. Rural area is kind of rehabilitation
Theatre originated in ancient Greece, with ancient hymns that honored the Greek god of wine, Dionysius called dithyrambs, these were often sung at festivals celebrating Dionysius. The word drama also originates from ancient Greece, it stems from the word dran, meaning to do.
Many of the playwrights were guided by social status and political opinion. Soon enough this turned into tradition and then ultimately ceremony. Because of the way things were being done and new traditions being formed this made theatre a much bigger deal.
It has long been a controversial topic of debate in the United States, whether or not our young men and women should be required to serve in the armed forces. There is proof that compulsory military service would be in our nations best interest. It has historically shown to improve military preparedness, and also has evenly balanced the burden of military service. It also helps to instill a sense of duty into those who serve. From an economic standpoint, there are numerous arguments to be made in support of conscription, including government savings. Numerous scholars write in favor of the subject as well. The government has been debating this topic since the draft system was removed from our country, and many reports written also offer strong arguments in its favor. Although there are strong arguments to keep the current all-volunteer system of draftees, it would be economically and militarily beneficial to re-impose the draft.
Many cultural enthusiasts, archaeologists, and architects have a common interest in theatre and its origins. People from a few decades back have located the remaining of the oldest theatres in Greece, England, France and some parts of minor Asia. Theatre was a part of people’s lives as it was one of the few sources of entertainment, and it was originated from when people collectively sit in a gathering and listen to a storyteller. There were performances done by different people present at that moment. Later on, this activity kept improving and innovating, and in the result, many theaters for entertaining purposes were built by emperors who ruled the countries or kingdom in those days. The design of these theatres
However there is tremendous demand on news organization to make a profit. This is only achievable is by selling their audience to advertisers, mainstream large markets then cater to the mass audience. Fearful of losing their market shares these organizations tend to reduce their coverage of serious political debate, and thus abandoned their responsibility for educating and informing citizens, the favor of material intended for entertainment (Heywood, 181). In addition news organizations targeting niche markets instead opt to provide alternative information to unsatisfied audiences with whatever they can find in the mainstream media. Usually mainstream journalists are inclined initially to censor information to avoid unpopular or controversies. And it is that information which niche media has an incentive tackle, especially stories about human rights violation. In Lawson’s book he discusses how Mexico’s media led to increased coverage by niche media, then by mainstream media of the corruption by its government he
