Fixing A Computer
Fixing computers is easy. The paragraphs to follow contain information on labeling parts, problems, and repairing vs. fixing. In these paragraphs will also compare a computer to the human circulatory system.
The internal parts of computers are very easy to recognize, once they are labeled. We will start by opening the case into the computer. Before opening the case don’t forget to have the computer turned off and unplugged, we don’t want to fry the computer parts. Once inside, we have a look around, and see a lot of parts that are unrecognizable to us. We will start from a top to bottom process of labeling parts. First look towards the bottom the big green board that everything else lies on is called the motherboard. A motherboard acts like the arteries of a human taking the blood all over allowing the blood places to travel, except the motherboard does this with electrical signals. The motherboard has three cards on it; they are the graphics card, sound card, and modem. They act like the voice, the eyes and the mouth of a human. You can tell the difference between them by how they connect in the back of the computer. The graphics card has a prong plug in, the sound card has a place where speaker plugs can go and modems have a place where you can put your phone line. Next to the left of the cards we see there is a little chip with a fan on top, this is the processor. The processor acts like the heart of a human sending blood all over the body, but instead of blood the processor sends electrical signals. Straight above the processor in the little slot is the hard drive. The hard drive acts kind of like the brain of the whole computer, by storing information on it and sending and receiving electrical signals. Finally we have the cd-rom. This is located above the hard drive. The cd-rom is the mouth of the human. But the cd-rom takes in data instead of food. Next on the motherboard is three little chips, sitting next to the processor, these are called Random Access Memory, or RAM. The ram acts like the quick storage in the brain it remembers the stuff that you are working on right then.
There now that we know the computers insides, I will give examples of problems and explain how to fix them.
The motherboard is the computer's main circuit board as shown in figure 8. It's a thin plate that holds the CPU, memory, connectors for the hard drive and optical drives, expansion cards to control the video and audio, and connections to your computer's ports (such as USB ports). The motherboard connects directly or indirectly to every part of the computer.
The hardware is everything physical, everything you can touch, everything you can damage by pouring water on it. It consists of the peripheral devices, thing that plug into the computer, like mice, keyboards, joysticks, and web cams. Web cams are used to capture video that the computer can store, or send over the internet so you can speak face to face with your family even though they are thousands of miles away. Some web cams can be used to track your movements and represent them real time on your
The central processing unit, CPU, can be referred to as the “brains of the computer.” It is one of the most important processing units due to how it can process information based on inputs. The CPU is able to manipulate, store, retrieve and even display information in binary form. It takes instructional inputs from the computer’s RAM, decodes and processes the data before having a resulting output. You are able to find this processing unit not only in computers but smart TV’s, tablets and smartphones as well.
The total price of a custom built computer may be higher than purchasing a pre-built computer, because most OEM’s, or the Original Equipment Manufacturer, install inexpensive components that meet company benchmarks regardless of the quality. When those components fail, it is up to the user to find a certified computer repair shop or will have to ship it back to the manufacturer for repairs. Many repair shops charge as much as $80 just for labor, which still does not include the cost for the required components. “A part that may cost $10.00 for a custom built computer could easily cost over $50.00 from the OEM” (White). A typical repair bill could cost more than $100 just for one repair. With our economy in a recession it is nearly impossible for users to have the money to even fix their own computer. When performing a computer build, there may be old components lying around which can be put to use avoiding the cost of purchasing a new component of the same ...

Well, Before anything else, here is a few names of components that need to be known to not be completely lost. The CPU(Central Processing Unit) (It processes everything from basic instructions to complex functions.) (Techterms.com). The Hard drive (the location of all the computer’s folders, files, and information, saved magnetically so even if turned off it’ll all stay saved). The RAM (Random Access Memory) (The more RAM your computer has, the more data can be loaded from the hard drive into the RAM, which can effectively speed up your computer.)(Techterms.com), The OS (Operating System) (just what it sounds like, this is the system that works the computer, as in Windows, Linux, and Apple OS.) The Graphics card (helps the CPU by processing the graphics portion of what the CPU has to process). The Disk Drive( this is the CD,DVD, or Blu-Ray driver that is installed to use CD’s DVD’s and or Blu-Ray disks.) The last major term to know is the Motherboard ...
Internal devices Internal is a term used to describe a device that is installed within the computer. For example, a video card is an internal device and a printer is an external device. When referring to a drive, an internal drive (e.g. internal hard drive) is any drive inside the computer. In the picture is an example of computer memory and an example of internal hardware. Overview Computers have become an everyday part of our lives, ranging from education to productivity to entertainment. With the knowledge of how to build a computer, one can further understand how a computer functions and use computers to their greatest ability. To build a computer, one must decide what he or she wants to use the computer for, and purchase parts accordingly. Step by step and piece by piece, one can assemble a computer in its entirety. To construct a computer, one must understand all of a computer’s components as well as how they fit together to create a functional, valuable device.
Well, it can be. You are going to have to order parts and be aware of how those parts function in the computer. There are complications with ordering parts but standardization of parts makes it easier, allowing parts from different manufacturers to be mixed and function properly. In order for a computer to run, there are essential parts you need and you have to know which ones to acquire. Essentials include the hard drive, the CPU (Central Processing Unit), the power supply, and more.
The conclusion attained from the discussion is that the malfunctions of computer systems are common but these can be prevented using safety measures. Data loss and theft can be answered by backing up the data and using the strong security systems, disaster recovery plans are important in case of data loss or theft.
All the parts go together and make a giant machine that lets you do just about anything. The first step to building your PC would be to put what you can inside the case first. Wiring it all comes later. You would put in your motherboard in the designated area in the PC Case first (There will be an area specifically for motherboards to go.) Once you fit the motherboard in, you would screw it on to the side carefully.
A CPU has various discrete units to help it in these tasks for example there is an arithmetic and logic unit(ALU) that takes care of all the math and logical data comparisons that need to performed. A control register makes sure everything happens in the right sequence. The motherboard is the main circuit board inside the PC. All other components are either slotted into or soldered to this board.
Apple will provide you with an replacement product or product easy to replace parts or accessories, such as a mouse. It can be replaced without using any tools. Apple does not undertake DIY service and thus caused any labor costs. If you need further assistance and replacement, contact telephone number listed below Apple, or visit an Apple Retail Store or AASP location.
Choosing which motherboard to use is important. It also is closely related to what processor is chosen. Because of cost saving factors, the AMD Athlon processor is the best choice. Therefore we can only provide a motherboard compatible with the AMD AthlonXP 1900. For our client, we decided on the motherboard Aopen K77-333. This motherboard is an excellent choice for our client because:
“Also known as the logic board, main board, or computer board, the motherboard is the computer's main board and in most cases holds all CPU, memory, and I/O functions or has expansion slots for them”. (Kingston)
