" Deleted Author´s brother´s name" I.S.P. - My Hero Profile
At only 17 years of age my brother has done a lot with his life. He is someone that I look up to because he has been good at sports all though his life. He won the MVP award at his school for playing basketball. He swerves this way and then that, before shooting an almost perfect three pointer.
"I started to get better by just shooting hoops," he told me. "After a while I started to play games and got to know all of the rules." Although when he first started to play the net was only set to six foot, he got better and better while moving the net higher and higher.
The only way that he learned to shoot better was to teach himself, until grade six when he played on his first competitive basketball team. "It was very challenging and wanted to quit, but stuck to it and eventually got good. He started to watch NBA on the television and watched all of their tricks and fakes carefully. By the time he was in grade eight he got the MVP award for scoring the most baskets on his team.
Once his team had beat all of the school's in the area they moved on to WOFSA and got 6th place, not bad for a team from the small town of West Lorne. "I love to play, once you start playing you just don't want to stop." He kept playing all the way until he was in grade 10, the first year that there was no basketball team.
Although he was disappointed, he still keeps playing every now and then, in our backyard. He will hone his skills more and more and hopes to be on next years basketball team, at W.E.S.S. Everyone around him supports him 100 percent including: my mom, my dad, his teachers and me.
Assignment details: Analyze the components of the hero’s journey. Basically, support the argument that Jaws follows the epic hero cycle. Name specific examples from the movie and connect them to the hero’s journey. However, this is not a plot summary. You are not retelling the story, but selecting examples to support the analysis.
He always believed he would play in the NBA, no matter what the other kids said. His first day of school started out with going to his class, to him, they all seemed the same. After school went out, he went walking around the streets trying to find a basketball court. He found one around the butcher's store and he saw all the players, he never imagined that they would be this good. He saw kids his age dunking
Jordan played basketball for Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Ironically, he was cut from the varsity team his sophmore year. Instead of giving up after not making the team, Jordan used it to encourage himself to do better, spending hours on the basketball court. He said that whenever he was working out and got tired, and he figured he should stop, he would just picture the list in the locker room without his name on it, and that was enough to get him going again. Jordan eventually made the team, and led them to the state championship.
Gilgamesh was a very self confident and at times that self confidence led to him to have little compassion for the people of Uruk at he beginning of the story. He was their king, but not their protector; he kills their sons and rapes their daughters. He felt like he was superior to others due to the fact that he was two-thirds god, his mother was a goddess Ninsun and one third human. This fact is the key to all of his actions. This is also what sets him apart from the hero Odysseus.
Also, Pete father would say, “A good basketball player can make up for a lot if he has hands as fast as a gun fire” then he would get Pete to do a drill where held a basketball at the bottom of his neck and Pistol has to clap his hands in front of him then catch the ball when his father drops the basketball (Schroeder, 1991). Pete was not very successful when first trying this drill and so Pete’s mother told Pet’s father Press that it’s impossible and so the father completed this drill just to show his son that it was possible. Pete father just stayed on his son about confidence and the difference between thinking you can do something and knowing you could do something. Press Maravich believed that if you knew you could do something then most likely you would succeed at the task at
It was the middle of November, 7 p.m. and very chilly outside. The team was walking into the court. “The basketball court looked and felt brand new. It smelled like it was just built and ready to be played on,” Rashim excitedly explained. It was Rashim’s first game of the regular season against Wissahickon High School. Usually Rashim doesn't care about the regular season, but he found out that this could be the most important game of his life. 76ers recruiter, Matthew McLane, came to watch the game to find an incoming star to bring to the NBA. Rashim knew it was his chance to show how he is good enough for the NBA, but he was very nervous. The game
The main character in the book The Epic of Gilgamesh, is Gilgamesh himself. In the beginning of the book one realizes that Gilgamesh is an arrogant person. Gilgamesh is full of himself and abuses his rights as king. He has sexual intercourse with the virgins of his town and acts as though he is a god. Throughout the story, many things cause Gilgamesh to change. He gains a friend, he makes a name for himself by killing Humbaba, and he tries to become immortal because of the death of Enkidu. Through these main actions his personality changes and he becomes a better person.
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
An English proverb states, “ A hero is a man who is afraid to run away”. I agree with this proverb, because when you see a hero in a comic book, they have super cool back stories, are not afraid to fight, and stare danger in the face and not blink. They are not afraid of anything. That’s nice to look up to, but they are not real. Our definition of a hero is too much for one man to become, you can do something honorable, heroic, but you will never actually be a hero because it's too much, in real life. Heroes don’t just do it so they can get paid, or respect. What really determines whether someone is a hero is if they choose to do something about it in a bad situation. We have people that do heroic acts, for example, people putting their lives before others. Those people cannot be heroes because they get paid to do it, they are, firefighters, cops, and military, they get paid to help people, so they aren't considered a hero.
Although he was relatively short at five feet and lacking skill, he pushed himself to make the basketball team in the eighth grade
Gilgamesh was considered a hero because he had many great qualities, such as loyalty, perseverance, and heroism. Although these are heroic traits, he also had his flaws and was self-righteous, selfish, and prideful. Gilgamesh was a great man and was seen as flawless and “perfect in strength” (4). He represented almost a human version of a god; therefore, making it hard to see his flaws because he seems so ideal. He appeared like the perfect man that had absolutely nothing wrong with him. He was very courageous and this was evident when he states, “There dwells in the forest the fierce monster Humbaba, [You and I shall] kill [him] [And] wipe out [something evil from the land]” (18). This statement shows both a heroic quality and a flaw in Gilgamesh. It shows his heroism and how he felt that he could accomplish great things. His statement also shows how prideful he was because he always wanted the glory and wanted to be seen as the hero. This comes from the fact that he was part human and part god and he knew how amazing everyone thought he was and felt that he needed to live up to that expectation. This can be seen as both positive and negative because it shows his determination, but yet shows his pride. Being prideful is not necessarily a good thing because in this situati...
After middle school, my next goal was to become the star at my high schools basketball team. Unfortunately when I arrived the talent was much greater than it was in high school. There were kids in my grade who were dunking and at the time, and I could barely touch the net. Undaunted by the task I participated in a scrimmage with the Varsity team. The first time I got the ball I was open, so I shot the ball and missed the shot. I still kept my head up and after missing my first three shot attempts I decided that it was not my night so I tried to have a positive impact on

Every society has specialized individuals who fulfill certain positions that require extended education. In some cases, these people are known as shamans, priests, or professors, or they may be doctors, mechanics, blacksmiths, or artists. In all these professions, some form of higher education is necessary. It could come from an apprentice or rigorous private study, or it could take the form of a formal higher education. Whatever the form, the meaning is the same, gain knowledge and use it.
When I was about seven years old my dad wanted me to go out for basketball so I tried out, he is one of the most athletic people I know. Well ever since he had me go out for basketball I have been doing sports then when I want to give up when I can’t make that perfect lay up or when I can’t make that perfect over hand serve he will sit there and help me do it till I get it done and done right.
