Sexuality in Young People’s Relationships
Are parents unaware of the role that sexuality plays in a teen’s relationship? In the article, "Young People, Sexuality and Relationships," by Peter Aggleton, the author describes sex in young people’s relationships. It was published in 2000 in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy to inform people of a young person’s perspective on sex. The author wants counselors and therapists to be aware of the various health programs that are available to help young people, so that they can better understand how to help them. The author wants people to know that before they can help young people, they must first be able to see things from their perspective.
Throughout the article, Aggleton describes the parent role in understanding young people’s relationships and their needs. He stresses that the elders first need to be able to understand what young people’s needs are before they can help or judge them. By doing this, the adult must realize that everyone’s perspective is different depending on their background, the situation, and the circumstances. He mentions that before adults can help a young person, they must be aware of the environment and culture that is influencing them. Once they can understand these, they can help give them precautions about sex. Adults do not want to hear the words youth and sex together because it suggests controversy. Aggleton suggests that adults must realize that by doing this, it can give the young people hope for the future.
The author also describes how important of a role gender plays in cultures and societies. He says that boys in most societies are seen as superior, which therefore suggests that there are more opportunities available to them. However, girls can tend to have to deal with more consequences than boys because of their lack of information. Aggleton suggests that in some cultures it may be hard for young people to express themselves freely. This is because society influences the way young people think and act. The author explains the importance of gender found in society that relates to sex issues.
No country in the world can yet say they have achieved gender equality (Eitzen, Zinn, and Smith 2012). Every society treats women and men differently. Research shows that sex and gender are entirely separate concepts, yet, society lumps them together and the terms oftentimes are used interchangeably. We can distinguish that sex indicates biological differences between males and females, and gender assigns cultural and social behavior based on sex. However, everything in society is needlessly gendered; advertising, occupations, institutions. Society makes gender a huge factor that determines what roles children and adults alike fulfill. This fosters a culture where roles are pre-fabricated for us, somewhat eliminating free choice, and limiting
His work also sheds light on why different gender roles are hard for people to accept, due to the way they were brought up, and the culture they are surrounded by (Devor 8). With the belief that gender role behaviors are concrete, teenage boys believe that they must act according to their gender.
Safety is focused on reducing the chance of harm to staff and patients. The 2016 National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals includes criteria such as using two forms of identification when caring for a patient to ensure the right patient is being treated, proper hand washing techniques to prevent nosocomial infections and reporting critical information promptly (Joint Commission, 2015). It is important that nurses follow standards and protocols intending to patients to decrease adverse
Gender may be a universal concept, but the meaning of gender differs between societies. The way humans behave, speak, experience, think, and view the world is the final product of socialization. From the moment the sex of a fetus is known, humans are being molded into the person society wants them to be. Different parts of society have different functions in the gender-socialization process. The familial relationships and interactions one has with their immediate surroundings—peers, school, religion, and neighborhood—are the most influential aspects of gender development. Loosely connected societal influences like mass media, politics, and culture are influential as well. Throughout childhood, one’s family and interactions with their immediate surroundings teach and reinforce gender, while the rest of society acts as a reinforcer. During adolescence, the broader society begins to take on a minor instructor role in relation to the family in the further development of gender. Essentially, family always acts as the main gender instructor and reinforcer, while society acts as the secondary gender instructor and reinforcer.

Safe nurse-patient ratio is a complex issue debated on for many years. Due to inadequate staffing registered Nurses are faced with high patient ratios, and nurse burn out everyday. According to the American Nurses Association, “Massive Reductions in nursing budgets combined with, the challenges presented by a growing nursing shortage have resulted in fewer nurses working longer hours for sicker patients. This situation compromises care and contributes to the nursing shortage by creating an environment that drives nurses from the bedside”. (2012) Through the nursing process, the essential role of the Registered Nurse is to assess, diagnose, and plan based on outcomes, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care. However, it is not realistic to thoroughly implement these core guidelines in a safe and effective way, when you are

Patient safety is a large concern for practices, nurses and doctors. There are many tasks and precautions that can be taken to prevent accidents in the work place, whether it involves patients or not. Florence Nightingale once said “The very first canon of nursing, the first and last thing on which a nurse’s attention must be fixed is to keep the air within as pure as the air without”. This quote is argued to be an analogy for keeping the patient safe and to return them to the same condition as before they fell ill. Patient safety is one of many top priorities in a nurse’s creed, right next to caring for the patient and returning them to proper health. It is the nurse’s responsibility to keep the patient as comfortable as possible. This has
The first social institution that we are brought into is family. The family can be a large influence in one 's life based on if they were born male, female, or as an intersex person and what their family expect from them. Children are taught the roles of their assigned gender at a young age where high expectations are supposed to fulfilled of that specific gender assigned by their families. Men are often characterized as the provider and the head of the household while women are seen as the "motherly" figure who cares for the children and keeps the house in perfect condition. Due to these stereotypes of gender roles and expectations, children are dressed a certain style and are told to act properly according to their gender. Boys are taught the concept of masculinity while girls are taught to be feminine. The family has a significant impact when it comes to the topic of gender roles and expectations.
“Problem gambling, also known as gambling addiction or compulsive gambling, is defined as the urge to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop” (Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance 2015). Karen Frazier states, nearly 3 percent or 6 million adults and 500,000 teens meet the criteria for problem gambling (Frazier, 2015). Legalized Gambling has many positive aspects, and it should be noted that though a large number of citizens are considered “problem gamblers,” the majority of the population gambles causally and in moderation.
Patient safety is always the primary goal any hospital, nursing unit, and health care team. As the main caregiver, a nurse’s responsibility is to keep the patient safe, and free from injuries while the patient is hospitalized (Smith, 2012). The definition of nursing competency lack a direct universal definition, and technique and ways nursing supervisor and managers can evaluate patient care that was provided by a novice nurses (Smith, 2012). As of now, there is not an exact avenue that can help a novice or new graduate nurses to transition into a competent nurse so that patient care is not compromised (Smith, 2012). The author has chosen the topic of Roger’s nurse competency because nurse competency has been the greatest challenges

Both males and females have influences that help decide the ways in which they think, dress, speak, and act within the situation of society. Cultural and personal gender roles are a big influence on the way people live. Learning plays a role in this process of shaping gender roles. Peers, parents, movies, teachers, television, books, and movies could all teach and reinforce gender roles throughout the lifespan.
