Women in Muslim Society
1 ABSTRACT
In the western society today there is a stereotypical belief that
Islamic women are treated unequally and cruelly. The object of this
report is to challenge this stereotype and the argument of gender
equality within the Islamic Religion/Muslim society.
2 INTRODUCTION
The status of women in the Muslim society is neither a new issue nor a
fully settled one. The position of Islam on this issue has been among
the subjects presented to the Western reader with the least
objectivity. This report is intended to provide a brief and authentic
display of what Islam stands for in regard to women within their
beliefs. The teachings of Islam are based essentially on the Qur'an
(God's revelation) and Hadeeth (elaboration by Prophet Muhammad). The
Qur'an and the Hadeeth provide the basic source of authentication for
any position or view which is attributed to Islam. This report focuses
on the position of Islam regarding the status of woman in society
3 METHODOLOGY
The information of this report was obtained through:
Mullah, Hassan Ismahael- One of the priests (Mullah^s) of the
Gold Coast Islamic community. Mullah Ismahael was approached with the
question over equal rights within his religion and its typecasts. In
response he stated that ^he opposed these stereotypes for it is against
the true meaning of Islam, Muslims do not believe in such inequality^
and with this he was a main source of information quoting from the
Qur'an and Hadeeth plus giving his viewpoint in many aspects of this
religion.
Qur'an (God's revelation) and Hadeeth (elaboration by Prophet

4 WOMAN IN ISLAM
4.1 The Spiritual Aspect The Qur'an provides clear-cut evidence that
woman is completely equated with man in the sight of God in terms of
her rights and responsibilities. The Qur'an states: "Every soul will
be (held) in pledge for its deeds" (Qur'an 74:38). It also states:
...So their Lord accepted their prayers, (saying): I will not suffer to be lost the work of any of you whether male or female. You proceed one from another ...(Qur'an 3: 195).
Woman according to the Qur'an is not blamed for Adam's first mistake.
Both were jointly wrong in their disobedience to God, both repented,
and both were forgiven. (Qur'an 2:36, 7:20 - 24). In one verse in fact
(20:121), Adam specifically, was blamed. In terms of religious
obligations, such as the Daily Prayers, Fasting, Poor-due, and
Pilgrimage, woman is no different from man. In some cases indeed, woman
has certain advantages over man. For example, the woman is exempted
from the daily prayers and from fasting during her menstrual periods
Our current system of taxation is a varied rate percentage based on different income brackets. Many say that it violates our constitutional rights through unequal taxation. Multiple deductions, loopholes, special rates, and a complex system of regulations all characterize our Federal Income Tax System, prompting many to question why it is still being used (Peters, 2013). The current system although bringing in over $3 trillion, taxes income multiple times, and includes the taxing of estate, labor, savings, and investments (National Priorities Project, 2013). The system itself is complex with over 20,000 pages of regulations, requiring a massive filing system, which is set up and maintained by an even larger IRS, requiring over $225 billion in compliance costs (Hall, 2001). One can be hard pressed to find an advantage in the current system, other than the fact that it provides the government with an enormous amount of funds, and it has...
6. The flat tax replaces the current income tax code, which is very 7. complex, with a system so simple Americans could file their taxes on a 8. form the size of a postcard. What exactly is a flat tax? A flat tax sets 9. into place a single tax rate on all income subject to tax. The hundreds of 10. exemptions, credits, loopholes and deductions now in the tax system 11. would be eliminated to make the single tax rate as low as possible. The 12. cost of using the current tax system totals about $200 billion annually, 13. or $700 for every man, woman, and child in America. A flat tax would 14. reduce those totals by 94% , saving taxpayers more than $100
Muslim Women and Western Ideas of Feminism Western feminists aim for completely equal rights for men and women. They want to liberate women from perceived oppressions from men. Their aims are to give women completely free choice in their decisions. Such examples are child-bearing. This is a good view to the extent that men and women were created equally and so they should be treated equally.
A flat tax is a tax that is applied at a consistent rate with no variables in its application. In contrast with progressive or regressive taxes, where
In his article, Muslim Women in Campus Culture, Mir’s discusses the constrain of Muslim women through the transition of college-life and how it’s the enemy to the art of Muslim culture. The transition of college is the most scary and exciting life changing for most new incoming college students. While many only deals with a few common identities such as young, or female but the college environment is not welcoming to students to those whose identities speak louder to others than the person itself. The reader discusses the culture studies on scholars Muslim women student’s relating to the campus culture.
The flat tax would simplify the tax system because instead of filling out a variety of complicated forms, a person would only need to tell the IRS how much money they make, then give the percent of that amount. This would dissolve all of the loopholes that exist within the current system. It would cut back on the opportunities for unethical people to cheat. If the flat tax system were taken, taxpayers would save 94% in compliance costs (Website).
Wood-type printing allowed new typefaces to be created and used for printing cheaper than ever before. Technological advances permitted machine-set typography to be printed on machine-manufactured paper with high-speed steam-powered printing presses. The use of color lithography passed the aesthetic experience of colorful images from the privileged few to the whole of society.
In 1921 the Detroit Michigan Police Department first used mobile radio in a vehicle. Digital wireless and cellular roots started in the 1940s. In the 1940s new frequencies between 30 and 40 MHz were available. There was an increase of availability in channels which police systems were encouraged to use. Mobile units were available within private companies, individuals, and public agencies. In St. Louis, 1945 the first mobile telephone system in the US was introduced. Along the highway between New York and Boston a Public mobile system carried greater frequency distance in 1947. In 1n 1949, the FFC authorized separate radio channels to common carriers. A new system was developed with automatic channel selection in 1964. With this new system each call allowed customers to dial for themselves and it eliminated the need to push-to-talk operation. In 1975, in Chicago, AT&T was authorized to develop a cellular system. After this AT&T and Bell labs work with other cellular vendors to develop their cellular phones. Their phones were made so consumers would have the quality products available to use on cellular networks. There are many reasons why the mobile wireless has not progressed further in the last 60 years, this is because of cautiousness and federal regulation. The Federal Communications Commission controlled frequency availability. Their regulations and unresponsiveness had the most significant factors hindering radiotelephone development. The Federal Communication Commission delayed the technology in America by ten years.
Muslim women come from the Islamic faith. Islam is a monotheistic religion where its followers (Muslims) believe there is only one true God, Allah, and honor and love the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the last prophet of the God. Just like in any other religion, Muslims, particularly women, have rights and requirements within their religion. As well as wearing hijabs, Muslim women have the right to dress however they like, choose who they would like to marry, have the right to an education, and lead an imam.
In discussing the role of women in contemporary society there are three main areas that can be addressed. The perceptions of woman within contemporary Muslim societies. The status, position and role of woman in the Qur'an and in early Islam
In today’s world the vast majority of the population owns a cell phone. Cell phones are a huge part of people’s everyday lives. Since the 1940’s when mobile phones became available for automobiles, phone companies have made huge strides in making mobile phones more efficient, much smaller, and more available for anyone to use. There was a time where only people of wealth had these types of mobile phones. Now people from all social classes own a cell phone. They are extremely convenient and have the ability to do just about anything you can think of. There is an “app” for everything. You can make phone calls, text message, surf the web, pay your bills, read books, catch up on social media, and even listen to you music all from one small handheld device. Cell phones play a huge role in today’s economy. Businesses such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint have become huge public corporations with large stakes in the stock market. Between these companies among several other phone companies they have created millions of jobs and opportunities. Cell phone companies have now created what are known as “smart phones”. These phones are typically slim and sleek and have countless versatile abilities. However, cell phones have not always been so “smart” or small for that matter.
Islam is the second largest religion in the world today. Many of us do not understand the religion Islam and women’s rights within the Islamic faith. American society has the idea that Muslim women are weak, disrespected, belittled, mistreated, and oppressed. “And women shall have rights similar to the rights against them according to what is equitable; but men have a degree (of advantage) over them.” (Qur’an 28:229).Contrary to common belief, Islam regards women as equal to men in many aspects and that women have a unique place in Islam. Finally, with this research I hope to end all misconceptions and misunderstandings of Muslim women rights relating to their spiritual, economic, social, political, and legal rights.
Women who have the misfortune of living in predominately Muslim societies often are confronted with adversities concerning their rights in marriage, divorce, education, and seclusion. Consequently, many Westerners seeing a lack of equality towards women in these societies consider it as a confirmation of their own misconceptions about Islam itself. Islam is often rejected as being an intolerant and violent religion that discriminates against and subjugates women, treating them as second-class citizens. From a Muslim’s perspective, Islam’s stance on women can be approached by two opposing views. Scholars amongst the Muslim apologists have claimed, “The verses in the Qur’an represented Muhammad's intention to improve a debased condition of women that prevailed during the Jahiliya, the time of ignorance before Islam came into being.” (Doumato, 177) If inequalities still exist between men and women, they cannot be attributed to Islam, but are a result of the misinterpretation of Islam’s true meaning. Others have entirely denied the notion of inequality between men and women in Islam, claiming that the alleged inequalities “are merely perceived as such by foreign observers who confuse seclusion and sex difference with inequality.” (Ibid.) Many Muslim apologists defend the Koran as noble for the very fact that it raises women to an equal status of men despite their inferiority.
“Ethical leaders within an organization cannot make every ethical decision by themselves” (Ferrell, 2015). In centralized management, the top people make all of the decisions. There are still however many opportunities for lower level employees to make unethical decisions. Management can promote ethical behavior at every level by being a good example and following its own code of conduct. The ethical environment should also be closely monitored. When someone makes a really great ethical decision, that person should be recognized. By rewarding good behavior, others will naturally want to receive these rewards as
The Armed Forces of the Philippines Transformation Roadmap (AFPTR) is an important part of our plan to meet our aspiration to become a world class armed forces. We look to build a strong military, to be fully mission effective, professional, credibly equipped and highly responsive to the technological, doctrine and sociological changes. I believe we can achieve our vision to become a world class armed forces that is a source of national pride by 2028. The AFP can reach these goals, by first, adherence to the three components of the transformation roadmap, second, through the strong support of the stakeholders and third, commitment of the leadership.
